Looking for a Succulent That Will Help Fill Corner of House Vertically

I am going to put a large oil jar in the corner of a very small garden, and I need to plant something in that with some height and unusual shape to help give texture to that part of the garden. Any recommendations?

Some parameters:

  • The area I want to put this in gets shade even during peak Summer months.
  • I can put it on automatic watering.
  • Our Zone 9a winters are typically from just above freezing to the 40F range on the low end. We get the occasional week of rain.
  • The oil jar is about three feet high but only about two feet wide at the widest point. So it is very deep but not wide. It might favor a deep rooting plant.

I would love to plant some unusual Euphorbia there, but that might have problems surviving the wet and cold Winters (but I would still give it a try if I have any chance).

What are some good succulents or cactus to consider for this location?
