Double hang two thirds of the long side, single hang the remaining . How you rod the closet, depends your clothes, folding clothes, shoes etc. A trip to Loews or Home depot perhaps. A better/wider two door entry, would certainly help your accessibility. Consider calling a contractor.

I agree that you need a double-door entry...I would expand the doorway to 36” and center it with two doors opening out. That would leave @12” inside on the left and right sides for shoe/purse storage racks and a combination of long hang rod (@18”) and double hang rods (@42”) on the back wall. With all folded items and accessories in dresser drawers, two people may be able to share this closet successfully.

This is really just an extra deep reach in closet IMO you need to open the whole entry like an actual reach in then do something like this

thank you all for the feedback! I do agree the best long term solution is to widen the opening, but it's not in the cards for right now. I will have to see what we can do with the space as we have it.
