Design Dilemma Laundry Room

Laundry Closet - Design Dilemma

I’m looking for design ideas for this closet. I would like a full size stackable washer and dryer so I could get more space and possibly a foldable ironing board option and a couple shelves with a rod to hang a few hangers. I’m also open to ideas that don’t include a stackable washer and dryer. Thank You!

If you get front opening unit's that will open the most possibilities. Check with your water company or local lowes/home depot, many give rebates for new front load washers!

Side by Side and you could get a standing/low profile ironing board to go on top of the counter if needed.

stacked you could likely fit an ironing board to the side of the units

That was the idea to stand and fold there. Tired of using my kitchen table for folding LOL. But your right the height may not be ideal. And we had talked about that too. I think hinge idea is what we are going to go with. We thought about a table rise kinda like you see with some coffee tables at furniture stores but the hardware is difficult to find exactly what we would need and may be very costly. Is there room to put a shallow basket-type storage on the back of the right-hand door, for little things like stain treatments, dryer sheets, swiffer sheets, spray cleaner bottles, maybe a roll of paper towels? Even if the cabinetry has to be a bit shallower? and on one of the doors, hooks/clamps for a broom, swiffer, dustpan, stepstool? (i have one of those little folding stepstools like this i keep in the seatback pocket of the car, they are that thin but very handy.)

I love this. You have a built in laundry folding station/fix-it project tabletop (store tools) AND ‘standing catch all‘ when you have too much stuff in your arms (read: up from basement/in from garage). Organize with shelves/drawers/sliding panel of pegboard (on wall side). Tons of led lights under shelves/in drawers/on work surface means you can see what you’re looking for. Trim the front with durable knee-bump friendly beadboard. bonus if you incorperate ’sink-front flip-open hinges’ for pens/pencils/screwdriver on front. I’m jealous.

Except for the first plan and possibly the last one, none of the others will work. You will need to have a minimum space for the toilet of 30" wide and from back to any obstruction opposite the toilet , about 48" - none of the middle designs fits those requirements. I would strongly suggest using a pocket door - that will help with the flow. Keep in mind when you are drawing out plans that you have to add in the wall thicknesses. Your 24" deep coat closet is actually going to be about 29" deep when framed ( unless you are going to try to do it with a tall cabinet ( the really needs to e 24" for the hangers to be straight). I would try to find a designer to help you with all the pieces of this puzzle! Good luck

A laundry is the one space that I like wire shelving, because you can hang hangers from it without needing additional hardware.
