refrigerator/freezer door won't stay open
Comments (4)Thanks for you reponse, kudzu9. I guess what I'm trying to get across is that it is a nuisance to have to find something to prop it open when I put in a load from the grocery store. My other refrig will reach a certain point where it will stay open until I close it past that point and then it shuts by itself. I am hoping it is just some kind of a simple adjustment to the hinges?...See MoreAluminum window stuck--won't open or broken?
Comments (4)Hey--not insulting to say I am not very mechnically inclined-- I am retired English teacher -- words are my strong suit-- Some things I can do ok and understand the mechnical process from either first hand experience or reading something like Fine Homebuilding articles... But not knowing WHAT the problem with this window is--that is most of my problem... It could be something at simple as just not being seated in the track correctly...or could be ballister (?) the spring that runs along the window side... I don't know windows so need professional advice... And I called about 4 window companies and their deal was just to replace the window--cause they don't do repair work... Finally Googled up the name of aluminum fabricating/window company in my area that has been in business since 77 and they were very helpful. Woman I spoke with said that they had actually built that style of window back in the day and had similar windows in their office looking into the shop area...and yes...opening them could be frustrating... Called me back this AM just now cause they think they can send some guys out this afternoon to look at it after they finish job in town just north of me when John called today he was very reassuring-- He said there is likely no problem they can't fix--just might have to order part or something if they don't have it on the truck today...which is why he wanted info about size of window-- so I sent him photo of the window to get estimate of size since I am not at the house right now... Nice to find a family company that has been in business for so long......See MoreWell I won't be getting the 24 inch refrigerator. :-(

A hidden "reserve" price where you can start lower but until the reserve is hit, there is no sale. This way, people may be competing with unrealistic bids in competition with people making realistic bids, but it doesn't jump until someone's highest realistic bid hits the reserve. No reserve, meaning the lot goes for whatever the high bid is. A "Buy it Now/Best Offer" which means you can pay what the buyer is asking for it at the Buy it Now price if you are willing to pay this and don't want to go through the bidding process. I think in Any case, the shadiest auctions to pull would be the Reserve Auctions when the reserve is met, or the Buy It Now if the price is met. Why do people do no reserve auctions? To get people interested by being able to bid low, and hoping it will pick up. Some people will Never bid on a Reserve Auction. Why do people do Reserve auctions instead of open pricing? People will bid and rebid on something that they May not instantly pay the reserve or open price on...they need to see what Other people are willing to pay. It gives them a sense of the value if they are not sure. I am not trying to give you a hard time by pointing these things out, just trying to explain how things go on eBay. It is really unrealistic to think that you would have walked with the Thermador column for $200. He would have been better off donating it. However, he should probably have had a reasonable reserve or starting price on it himself....See MoreNeed smaller home but open plan won't work

We are a family of three and neither my husband nor I want our daughter to have to care for us. We bought the inflation protected, stay in your own home incentives which didn’t add much more to the premium. Now that we are talking about finished basements, ours is such that a caretaker could live there. With its own entrance, it would be a very comfortable apartment for a live-in. However, bottom line:, “Man proposes; God disposes”. “Best laid plans”…. A few of us were gabbing the other night at bookclub, (THE STORY OF ARTHUR TRULUV by Elizabeth Berg…if you haven’t read it, this is the perfect time of year to do so ) about our generation aging. We all agreed we feel younger than we are, if not physically than, at least, mentally. I remember my great grandmother wearing only black because she was a widow. I’m 74 and in my head I feel 50ish. Boy, is it a shock to look in the mirror…who is that old lady? LOL....See MoreUser
