36" current fridge space and 36" new fridge: how to make it work?
Comments (2)Answering my own question. Ha. Model came out in early 2012. Found out it's the french door sitting at 29 1/2" (plus 1" rear vent or 30 1/2") that are 36" in width, the fridge case or box itself is 35 5/8". Needs 1/2" side panels minimum. Might just work as current fridge side panels are 5/8" on both sides. Electrolux refrigerators have wheels for easier sliding....See MoreHelp me make this awkward great room great
Comments (33)Love this room. I would consider painting the room a lighter version of any color in the brick because that is your focal point! The layout looks good too as you can see the tv and the fireplace while seated on the sofa. I think you should decide on the paint that will coordinate with the brick. Then choose a light large rug, maybe broadloom in a light tweed rug to banish the dark flooring and create contrast with your sofa. I would also put the cool guitars on either side of the TV in a long horizontal line to fill the wall. Try the copper piece between the two doors. Put a large rectangular mirror on the brick fireplace Find large art work for the far wall where the guitars are now...maybe a triptych to fill the area; Matching lingerie type tall chest on either side of the fireplace with colorful lamps on them. A console table behind the sofa facing the fireplace with a pair of low fat lamps, possibly brass or silver or zinc. A pair of lamps on the new art wall where the guitars are hanging now. Something that will look good with the art work; clear glass with colored lampshades? A large lounge chair between the TV console and the fireplace, basically where the ottoman is now with a side table and a lamp for reading. This will give you six pair of lamps for lighting and one floor lamp for lighting plus storage. They should be large and fat to fill the room. and light colored will give you contrast....Have light, white cream natural fabric, fur throw pillows on the sofa to lighten it up too. Light curtains, roman shades white pillows large art LIght rug, roman shades light pillows, light walls Colorful lamp shades and colorful lamp, ligth pillows Again light rug light pillows...See MoreVery small master bedroom. Comments (40)Thank you Courtney that 2nd pic especially looks comparable to our size issue but solves the problem very nicely. I think getting those sconces replaced with more interesting light fixtures and moving them further apart is going to make the biggest difference. For now, I like the idea of adding a colorful throw or more interesting pillows. Someone else mentioned about storage and suggested a storage bench at the foot of the bed. We have an adjacent office/library and a large closet so no need for either storage or a sitting area in this room. So that helps!...See MoreHow do I make the front of my chalet more appealing?
Comments (17)I'm responding to your first picture. The low, sagging "ceiling" that is created by the bottom of the tree canopy makes the place look overall, neglected. It will look tidier if your create some clearance between the tree canopy and the face of the house. Also, If the structural appearance of the tree is important to you, you'd remove the left limb that starts out like an upraised elephant's trunk. It's headed toward being a major part of the canopy but looks substantially out of whack with the overall branching patter. (It should have been removed years ago and it's getting to the now-or-never state.) To achieve visual appeal of a house, it's necessary to have an inviting and secure path to the entrance. It should be obvious, easy to use and not confined ... all things that would appeal to a human. It should take the mystery of how to get into the house without getting dirty or bruised. Some simple, distinct landscaping would help, too. Groundcover around the base of the tree would look better than dirt and be easier to maintain than trying to grow grass....See MoreUser
