By all means don't get a dresser if you have no need for it. I've noticed a trend with newer housing to have a large closet that is fitted out with shelves and drawers and such so that it will hold all the clothes. If you've got a closet like that a) you have the closet of my dreams and b) you don't need a dresser. So look into a console table or TV stand that will fit your decor and make you happy. If, once it is in place, you feel the room is too empty, you can add a comfy chair or a large plant or just about anything else you want.

Thank God!! Someone finally suggested her picking what she likes...I read all of this and just groaned...I was looking to get a simple suggested ratio for horizontal picture to a stinking console. Now I have an idea and I saw a lot of things that I would give me zero joy...But then I like eclectic items. So it's all good...I truly think the real key here is to go with what makes you happy and what gives you joy. Someone else may not like it, but it's not their place... as soon as we quit worrying about what other people think about our decorating, then each person's personality will find that perfect mix... (Oh, remember, on your console, be sure you leave enough room so that one of your babies can curl up on the end nearesr a window or the front door to help be the official greeter ...like Wal*Bark??...Sorry, I don't know where that came from...)

Balance is essential in Interior design, and an oversized mirror hung above a narrow console table throws the entire room off. The mirror should be two-thirds or three-quarters the width of the furniture below it to create visual balance; however, feel free to go wider, up to the width of the furniture, if it works in your space.

Ok! It looks like most feel there is no room. That’s ok. Saves me money lol. Is there anything specific I should keep in mind in picking a mirror? My biggest concern is that hanging a mirror will look silly without any piece of furniture underneath to sort of ground it.. Sina & Sammie- I do need the 6 total chairs unfortunately. The dining table is necessary
