Size of Laundry room sink
Comments (2)What are you planning on doing with the sink. I see that most utility/laundry sinks are fairly deep and plastic. At least the ones I see at the big box stores. Go online and see what the measurements are on one of those. I would think that a nice sized kitchen sink would be just fine. Something sort of deep. Have you looked on Houzz dot com for inspiration pics? I have seen an IKEA sink that was for laundry, and it was 24" wide. It was nicer looking than the plastic big box store utility/laundry sinks. It had an integrated wash board embossed in the front inner surface. It was stainless steel. I think this is the IKEA sink. The cabinet is separate. I don't recall seeing that cabinet at IKEA. This is it in its very expensive stand. You can counter mount it too. Here is an image that I found on Houzz that shows a bathroom with intigrated washer/dryer with a petite sink :) [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/laundry-in-bathroom-rustic-bathroom-san-francisco-phvw-vp~617415) [Contemporary Laundry Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-laundry-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_753~s_2103) by Oakland Architects & Designers Cathy Schwabe Architecture Kind of a kitcheny setup: [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/new-project-contemporary-laundry-room-san-francisco-phvw-vp~80203) [Contemporary Laundry Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-laundry-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_753~s_2103) by San Francisco Interior Designers & Decorators Artistic Designs for Living, Tineke Triggs Way cute vintage look with husband shirt hanging options :) [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/colonial-comfort-traditional-laundry-room-boston-phvw-vp~4315263) [Traditional Laundry Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-laundry-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_753~s_2107) by Boston Architects & Designers Jan Gleysteen Architects, Inc This is the Kohler sink (I believe) mounted into the counter: [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/hamptons-in-the-country-traditional-laundry-room-minneapolis-phvw-vp~3847064) [Traditional Laundry Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-laundry-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_753~s_2107) by Wayzata Architects & Designers Eskuche Design Very smart and utilitarian: [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/williamsburg-colonial-traditional-laundry-room-phvw-vp~3531300) [Traditional Laundry Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-laundry-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_753~s_2107) by Richmond Architects & Designers 3north All these last images I got off Houzz Here is a link that might be useful: Houzz link for laundry sinks...See MoreFitting W/D and sink in laundry room
Comments (2)When we moved into this house, the laundry area was a "closet" off the kitchen with the washer and dryer next to each other. We stacked our units, put in a slop sink and a small kitchen cabinet with small countertop from Ikea. That may be an option as well. Stacking has worked out really well for us and we got the needed slop sink (the house had none), extra storage and it looks good....See MoreSink in laundry room?
Comments (31)I managed 30 years without a sink in the laundry room. I've had a deep sink the last 4 and love it, use it often. Not just for laundry related things but all the other needs mentioned above. Did anyone note the deep sink for watering houseplants, I do. Quick cleanup from coming in from gardening. Or rinsing the muddy hems from gardening pants. At least a couple of times a week, I'm adding a couple of pitchers of water to my HE top load washer, to trick the sensors into thinking its a heavier load where it will actually add enough water to wash ;0) While I love it, use it, would I trade the space needed for washer/dryer side by side and commit to a stacked pair? Probably not....See MoreLaundry room design and how to frame out washer and dryer?
Comments (10)Patricia - I will have a sink base and cabinet to the left and right so your example doesnt apply. :) Roanoke - My goal is to hide the plumbing, I agree. I can definitely run water supply lines (I think) from inside the sink base but not sure what to do about the height and plumbing if I don't install a washer box. Any ideas? As far as support I don't see any reason why I cant run a 2x4 across the back, I just need to know what kind of cabinet sides to use because most base furniture is 24" deep and in the pictures the sides look to be deeper. The only one that has a sunk base the same depth is the first photo after my actual laundry room and I do like the staggered look cause its such a small place it makes working at the sink not so tight....See Moresuezbell
