My friend won on Jeopardy!
Comments (7)Thanks for watching! Max is one of the smartest (and funniest) people I know. I guess it has shown everywhere now, so you all know how it came out. He was ahead until that tough final question. I'm very proud of him anyway. Can you imagine trying out for Jeopardy, being chosen and then actually winning a game, like he did on Friday? Even coming in second tonight with such tough competition is commendable....See MoreOT Just Wondering
Comments (3)Well, shucks. I thought I finally "knew" somebody on Jeopardy. Bet you could be if you wanted to, though....See MoreJeopardy - 09 January 2019
Comments (21)Hahaha. The other thing Dave said that I thought was a bit odd was when he said his then-future wife had contacted him a while after they'd first met and asked him if he remembered having taken a photo with her, and he said something like, "and the *only* time I've ever lied to her..." Then he elaborated and said that he'd taken "like 200 photos that night." Yeah, right. If it had been the only time he'd lied to her, he would have simply said something like, "and I said that of course I remembered her" without mentioning how many other people wanted photos with him. I, too, like it better when all three contestants are in it until the end....See MoreYale interview with Matt Amodio (of Jeopardy)
Comments (7)Neural networks are tools of machine learning/Artificial Intelligence. This is a computational underpinning of the modern world. Applying neural networks to biological data means taking huge amounts of data and being able to turn the raw data into useful information for scientists to apply and test. From Investopedia: What Is an Artificial Neural Network (ANN)? An artificial neural network (ANN) is the piece of a computing system designed to simulate the way the human brain analyzes and processes information. It is the foundation of artificial intelligence (AI) and solves problems that would prove impossible or difficult by human or statistical standards. ANNs have self-learning capabilities that enable them to produce better results as more data becomes available. KEY TAKEAWAYS An artificial neural network (ANN) is the component of artificial intelligence that is meant to simulate the functioning of a human brain. Processing units make up ANNs, which in turn consist of inputs and outputs. The inputs are what the ANN learns from to produce the desired output. Backpropagation is the set of learning rules used to guide artificial neural networks. The practical applications for ANNs are far and wide, encompassing finance, personal communication, industry, education, and so on. Understanding an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Artificial neural networks are built like the human brain, with neuron nodes interconnected like a web. The human brain has hundreds of billions of cells called neurons. Each neuron is made up of a cell body that is responsible for processing information by carrying information towards (inputs) and away (outputs) from the brain. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/artificial-neural-networks-ann.asp...See More- 6 years ago
