I don't watch Jeopardy but that was really interesting. I don't even understand what he does - applying neural networks on biological data. - whatever that may mean.

Is he still playing or is he finished?

Neural networks are tools of machine learning/Artificial Intelligence. This is a computational underpinning of the modern world. Applying neural networks to biological data means taking huge amounts of data and being able to turn the raw data into useful information for scientists to apply and test.

    From Investopedia:

What Is an Artificial Neural Network (ANN)?

An artificial neural network (ANN) is the piece of a computing system designed to simulate the way the human brain analyzes and processes information. It is the foundation of artificial intelligence (AI) and solves problems that would prove impossible or difficult by human or statistical standards. ANNs have self-learning capabilities that enable them to produce better results as more data becomes available.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • An artificial neural network (ANN) is the component of artificial intelligence that is meant to simulate the functioning of a human brain.
    • Processing units make up ANNs, which in turn consist of inputs and outputs. The inputs are what the ANN learns from to produce the desired output.
    • Backpropagation is the set of learning rules used to guide artificial neural networks.
    • The practical applications for ANNs are far and wide, encompassing finance, personal communication, industry, education, and so on.

Understanding an Artificial Neural Network (ANN)

Artificial neural networks are built like the human brain, with neuron nodes interconnected like a web. The human brain has hundreds of billions of cells called neurons. Each neuron is made up of a cell body that is responsible for processing information by carrying information towards (inputs) and away (outputs) from the brain.

    I loved this line:

"You go in there at 7 in the morning. And I'm not a morning person - I just discovered that there is a 7 in the morning, as well as the 7 in the evening that I already knew about."😅

He's a great champion. I hope he has a long run.

I caught Final Jeopardy last night, and he's still champion. Looking forward to tonight.

The breadth of his knowledge is stunning to me. Even the host this last week seemed surprised when he came up with a couple of the more obscure answers. He also seems quite humble, which some of the other big winners lacked, IMHO.

He became the third highest winner in regular Jeopardy after Ken and James! Bravo!
