Oh my, who would have thunk!! ... a chicken feeder!!! (my DH gave most of our away when we quit raising chickens some yrs ago)! Isn't that just the cutest! & if you don't like the metal look (which I do), you could spray paint it! Looks great w/her painted blue island! I can see this on a serving table at a picnic, too! I had the same plastic tile in a rental! After I took it off, it took about a gallon of joint compound to level the walls, and even then...those were my newbie days. So dumb I used ready patch instead of mixing up some good stuff that I could breathe while using. The house had been moved three blocks in the 50's and the walls were really off, above and beyond anything my simple patching could do, so I added textured wallpaper in a nod to the lincrusta/analgypta style (except it was the 12.50/roll stuff from HD because my landlord was thrifty-minded): Wish I had a picture without the sagging oak leaves and with the chair rail we eventually added. We enjoyed that bathroom for a good three years until we finally bought our own fixer. And I was glad for the practice on that place; gad what a newbie I was (and I'll be saying the same thing of myself now in 5 years). but at least thanks to casey, worthy, brickeyee, and macv, I use the right stuff on plaster now (bonding agent, durabond, and sometimes easysand, depending on the situation). Anyway the lincrusta look worked very well for us. We painted it with BM blue lapis, then bought the bottom of the color strip (darkest, I think it was simply called Navy or Blue), mixed 50/50 with glaze, and rolled on, then wiped off with paper towels until we had the tone-on tone look we were going for. Man I loved those walls, and got lots of compliments. They were inspired by the bar in the the British show As Time Goes By, if you ever saw that one. Except those were a brownish red instead of blue.

Sachets just add one stink to another. Clean the drawers with vodka after your stain has cured in. Sitting in the garage made them smell worse as they were not getting use or air circulation. Heat breeds bacteria, which breeds stink, which is what happens when you do not use something and it sits in an unairconditioned environment. Vodka will kill the bacteria. Lots of alcohol in vodka. Use the cheapest brand money can buy and clean your drawers with it a week or so after your stain has cured in. You might have to repeat it in the warm weather. Just like houses that are not occupied, the bathroom begins to smell like the toilet was never flushed, drawers will have bacteria build up and that is where the odor arises. It's called incubation. You are growing a culture, sotaspeak.

Then I get back home, and really think about it, and realize I don't know one person who has lighting inside of their kitchen cabinets/drawers. I tend to think this way too. I've never had anything except a builder-basic tub, sink, or faucet, and I'm not unhappy with them ... why do I obsess about minute details? I've actually decreased my gotta-have list during our planning. I think at this point we've focused in on the things that we actually want to make priorities, and we're going "good quality average" on the majority. I want real quality in the things I buy, but I don't want to pay big money for party tricks that'll be used three times then ignored. To answer your specific question, I see the point in a light inside a big, deep Lazy Susan (and a dollar store stick-on puck light will do for that purpose). Pretty much all other drawers, not so much. I'm also not overwhelmed with pull-outs and spice drawers, etc., etc., etc.
