Comments (1)I need help identifying the marker of this 17" hand blown glass aqua blue vase.. It has a most unusual triangular top .. The top has been rolled in like cigarette ashtray.. Comments (21)Juice glasses--check out the Rings glasses at Crate and Barrel--the smallest size, although I think the other sizes are good too. 95 cents apiece!! My kids use these everyday, PLUS they were so cheap I copied a friend of mine and bought eight dozen for a Christmas party one year. We use them for wine and champagne, bistro-style, and I love that we are not using paper that will just get thrown away. It's a little investment but have a few parties and they will pay for themselves :) plus they fit in the dishwasher much more easily than wine glasses, and are easier to store. (They also stack, another plus.) For bigger glasses I like the "working glasses" from Crate and barrel, and probably other places too: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=150&f=1693&q=lids&fromLocation=Search&DIMID=400150&SearchPage=1 You can buy lids for them and use them as refrigerator storage. It's nice when something has two functions and isn't plastic :) Here is a link that might be useful: Rings glasses...See MoreWhere to find old Waterford?
Comments (23)Just about three months ago, I wanted a few more Wedgwood White plates, but only if they were manufactured in England. The people at Replacements went through their stock to find the right ones with the right mark. That place is pricy, though. Lots of times, eBay sellers will show the label or etching in the listing photos. Other times, you can ask them through the eBay request process for specific information. It takes some perseverance to weed through all of the listings to find the good ones, but they are usually out there. Try limiting your eBay search to "Waterford Lismore Wine Glasses Made in Ireland."...See MorePlease help me identify the pattern of this crystal wine glass.
Comments (8)To get a good photo, fill the glass with water, right up to the top. Put something dark, a solid black or dark blue woolen fabric works best, behind and beneath it. Take the picture in a bright, well lit room but without any light directly "hitting" the glass to make a shiny reflection or highlight. Your camera, phone, whatever it is, seems to be good enough to get you an excellent exposure. Don't forget to tell them (or even us) the dimensions of the glass, height, diameter at the rim, and diameter at the foot. Finding a maker's mark on glass can be difficult without a hands-free magnifier and a small but bright flashlight that will allow you to angle the light as you search, an effort to create a shadow. They're not cheap, but a #5 or #7 Mageyes (brand) magnifier does the trick very well, and they're readily available on both eBay and Amazon....See MoreUser
