Who is having a garden walk?
Comments (17)MILLS COUNTY GARDEN WALK The fifth annual Mills County garden walk has been scheduled for the Mineola/Silver City area. Visit some extraordinary gardens and backyard ponds at the homes of some Mineola/Silver City area residents. In its fifth year, the popular tour will feature six unique gardens and/or backyard ponds. The self-guided tour is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, June 26, from 9 a.m. to Noon. The owners will be on hand at each site to answer your questions. All participants will receive a folder filled with information on garden topics that will be visible on the tour. The purpose of this tour is to provide pertinent information to gardeners and grow ideas one garden at a time! The cost for the Garden Walk is $5 per person. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Please contact the Mills County Extension Office at 624-8616 to make your reservation or to learn more. Comments (26)I always load knives point up, at the very back. Forks and spoons are alternating as others have suggested and my DW manual suggested to prevent nesting. I had a brief period where I loaded knives point down, all I ended up with were duller knives and broken points. I will continue in my method of ALWAYS unloading knives and other sharp/breakable items first but I won't change my DW loading method or switch to hand washing....See MoreAre you 50 or older?
Comments (36)Resurrecting this old(ish) thread to see if anyone has gotten the Shingrix shot--or shots. I had shingles nine years ago and got the Zostavax some time after that. A few years ago I got shingles again. It was much milder this time, but it was on my eyelid--not a great place. So I was thinking of getting the Shingrix shot, but I'm put off by the cost. My Medicare Part D drug insurance is the relatively cheap Humana/Walmart. It carries a deductible that I haven't paid down because most of the time I don't take any meds. (Which is why I chose the cheap insurance.) So my combined cost for the two required shots would be $320--a chunk of money I'd rather not spend. I agree with the OP: Medicare should pay for shingles protection, just as they pay for other vaccines. I also think they should pay for at least some dental and vision expenses, because they're part of our health too....See MoreObserving Wildlife in their native habitat.. friendly PSA.... LOL
Comments (1)I like the humorous approach to this serious subject. Maybe it will get people to do the right thing. It was just a couple of months ago that a young bear in Oregon had to be euthanized because he had become too friendly due to people feeding him for photo ops. Cute when it's a young bear, but dangerous when that bear is a full grown adult. Unfortunately, it usually ends badly for the wildlife when humans encourage these interactions. I've lived in wildlife habitat for 25 years, and while I very much enjoy seeing and observing wild animals such as deer, bears, foxes, coyotes and the occasional mountain lion, we respect their space and we never leave temptations such as trash or food outside....See MoreMichael
