A pedicure feels SO good!

It's nice to treat yourself. I usually get them in the summer, or for special occasions when I will be wearing sandals.

Personally, I love getting a chair back massage.

Dawn, I don't like strangers touching me, but I did enjoy this. I was actually surprised.

My mom is 81 years old and never had a pedicure either...

I have never had one either and in my early years my aunt had a beauty shop. Had perms and fingers done though. Good for you Sherry,

for those of you who never had one - please try it!! it is the best treat ever!! even if you are ticklish, they accomodate that. my DD is ticklish under her feet and they are careful not to buff too hard.

they do this all day long and are used to people with "foot fetishes" if you will. if they are a reputable shop, they can accomodate anyone. i get mine done once a month, and it is so relaxing!! i don't really converse with them, i just sit back with the massage on my chair and close my eyes and zone out.!!! such a personal treat!!

bonus: you never have to cut your own toenails or polish them ever again.

Wow, $20 for a pedi is a deal. I pay $55 plus tip. I’ve been indulging myself every 4 weeks as I have a real hard time seeing my toes to cut. Too far away for reading glasses!

I treat myself to pedicures from spring to cold weather. In part, the treat is because I just cannot contort and see that well to cut nails and polish them well.

You may have to find a person that you are comfortable with and does a good job. Some do a better job than others.

I normally have my legs waxed at the same time as the pedicure. This is after leaving a strip of fur on the back of my leg because I could not see it. If you do be aware that most places will do the pedicure then the waxing because the waxing leaves a slight irritation that is not good when soaking your feet and ankles.

I "wish" I could get a pedicure, but being handicapped, I can't get up in the chairs and the salon where I used to go to get my fingernails done doesn't have the portable units to bring to a regular chair or wheelchair. It's not set up for handicapped people, which is a shame.

I get regular pedicures. It is so relaxing to me and well worth having someone else do something for me that I do not enjoy doing. I’m glad you enjoyed your experience Jasdip.

To always1step behind and others with older parents, an aging person can have difficulties reaching toenails to trim. Men often think pedicures are only for the ladies.

LOL, the massaging chair was driving me crazy. I tried different settings, and finally just turned it off.

I'm another one who finds the massaging chair annoying, and I don't use it. either. But I love the pedicures! I get one about every 6 weeks. I can cut the nails, but I love having roughness smoothed away. I don't use polish. And yes, I'm ticklish too, but the person does a great job of avoiding that.

I'm not into pedicures but I have a friend that frequently does. She always says to be careful to make sure they put Clorox in the water to reduce any possibility of infection.

My Mom had diabetes and her feet were very hard for her to take care of. When she moved in with me, I suggested that I take her for a pedicure and manicure. She was very resistant, but did eventually agree to having all of her nails done. She absolutely loved it and said it was the best thing ever done for just herself. After that, I took her every month and she looked forward to it.

I get them now about once or twice a year, usually in the Spring or Summer for some reason. My feet were killing me while in Japan and one rainy day in Tokyo I decided to get one thinking it would sooth my feet. But all they did was scrape off the old polish and apply new. No soaking the feet, no massage. So when I came home I went and had one and the place I usually go was closed for a week or so, so I went to another one in town. The older man who did my pedicure was rough and at one point pulled one of my little toes so hard I jumped. I won't be going back there. Before I left on my trip I was reading all the foot peel posts here. I changed shoe brands this summer trying to find something comfortable. Turns out the shoes I picked put four nickel sized callouses on both feet, on the sides. Last night I did a search of those posts trying to read up on how well they worked and today I'm going to Wal-Mart to try and find some to try out.

there's only one setting on the chair that i like, i think its the "rolling" one. i don't like the "karate chop" one, too painful. i use the lowest setting.

lindaohnowga: that's really stinks. maybe call around to different places and see if they have at least one chair that would accomodate you :)

I've never had one either. I hear too many horror stories about infections and stuff for me to do it.

I'm in the never-had-one crowd. My feet spend their days in work boots or running shoes, so I never saw the point. But it reminds me of a funny conversation I had years ago. Sylvia was a Director in Mary Kay, and always very well-appointed. She commented to me one day that she had never in her life cut grass. I responded that I had never had a pedicure. Just goes to show, it takes all kinds.
