My First Pedicure! (pic)

Here is the results!

We ended up going to a school that is only a few blocks from our house. I think I got a "beginner." She just started her training in May and she basically didn't trim the nails at all. She was timid. So I will see if I can manage for about a week and then trim them myself. She was good with smoothing and rubbing my feet. After I was done I wished that I had picked a non-pearlized color.

Well -- Ican take that off my Bucket list (I don't actually have one.)

Well, Glenda, I think if I can manage to trim them myself, I will wait a while before going again. DH said I need to go to a REAL one!
I was keeping a close watch on cleanliness, and I think they could do a lot better in that area. Next time will not be a school, but I'm in no big rush. The Water Aerobics has made me much more flexible, so I can reach my toes again. :o)

First my heartfelt thanks to Anita for her warm and caring comment. It meant the world to me. Much I don't remember back then, and either I or the paper got the detail wrong about the bed/machine. Bernadine had a younger sister, I remember, thought her name was Brenda, didn't sound right, maybe it was Glenda. I have thought over the years what a terrible ordeal it would have been for the family, the caring, the moving to CA and the constant sorrow and stress. I know what it is to lose a child, lost my son in December 2012 under vastly different circumstances, and I will never get over it. It was fourth grade, the fall of 1950. The family moved to Davenport from Buffalo or Linwood, and Bernadine may have started a little late that year. February 1951 was still fourth grade, and I don't think Bernadine returned to school after that Valentine's Day I mentioned in one of my posts. Then was the unsuccessful surgery in Iowa City. Bernadine would have been in a coma for at least six years before she died. There are probably still some here who remember her. It is painful to think that so much has been learned and new diagnostic methods that she could be saved were it to happen now as they are able to save to many heart patients. It was a blessing for Anita to be born the year after her death, and she was no doubt much welcomed and loved, but no child can ever replace another. So thank you again Anita for responding to my old post. And hope I didn't say anything wrong or offensive. About the roses. I had my own website and had an html page full of my "finds" where I found most of them, and how they looked after I got them rooted. The best I can do is post them to my flickr photo stream. Some you can kind of figure out but most will be a jumble. See if this link works to my flickr account. There should be 29 or so rose photos. I tried some months back to upload a couple photos to houzz and failed. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your macro pictures! I'm going to take some myself. Yours are the best macros I've seen so far (but, this is just my first year doing this!)!! I'm certainly not an expert, and don't be surprised if I'm corrected by somebody else, but it looks like portulaca to me. The stems are reddish (check) and the leaves are pointed (check). If it's not portulaca, it certainly has similar characteristics. Don't count it for a weed yet! Wait on the experiences folks to chime in!

Thanks everyone! Those are just your basic sugar snap peas, but three days of temps in the ninties here isn't making them very happy. The garden is 4x8 and I have to admit, I cheated a bit on the mix (just don't tell Mel!). I'm in Virginia, zone 7, everything in the garden was started from seed in the ground, but I have cukes and tomato starts that will be going in soon. Some of my beets didn't sprout, which means I have some holes to fill; basil and nasturtiums should do the trick. This has been so much fun!

Yikes! Linda, no, I have not figured anything out!! :-) I followed the pattern strictly and did decrease down to the original 56 stitches I started with, 14 on each needle. Are you thinking my sock is too big because I did not decrease enough? The sock is called a women's large or men's medium. Maybe that's why it seems so big. My gauge is ok, so I think I need to make the woman's small-medium next time (cast on 48). As always, I appreciate your help.

I get manicures all year, but pedicures when the bubble is down for the warm season, and cruising :o)

Yep, I can now touch my toes :o)

I just realized that the "WHAT_EVER_IT_IS" that I have been smelling all afternoon --- is my feet
They smell sanitized! Phew!

Sorry, but that is not best pedicure .. the polish appears to have puddled around the cuticles. Try a higher end salon next time and see if you don't notice a change.

I have had one pedicure in my whole life! It was also done at a school a couple of years ago and like hayjud I got a girl that was really nervous and I could tell was new to it.She didn't trim my nails either and barely filed them and the polish job was less than professional.My 15 year old DGD probably could have done a better job.I was very disappointed.If I ever have it done again I will go to a professional salon.I have a hard time doing them myself anymore so I may have to break down and have them done on a regular basis eventually.Maybe I just need to do what Glenda is doing and start water aerobics or something so I will be more flexible.LOL
I do like the color on yours though.

I get a manicure every week and a pedi about every three months. I used to be a nail biter (from age 5 to 48) and my toe nails are just too tough for me to cut. I know it's time for a pedicure when my toenails start snagging my socks.

Hey, take another look at those pink toes and notice...

First - I don't have any long black hairs on them! LOL

Second - notice the right foot, the toe next to the BIG toe. That is the one I thought I broke last Fall. It no longer hurts (since I started Water Aerobics) Notice how it looks like it is crowding the next toe, and it is still always a little darker in color than the rest of them. I still wonder if it is out of place. BUT, no pain, no messing with it!

My feet don't really look that "pinkish."
