Playstation is ending Vue streaming service

I am disappointed, because I had been quite happy with it.

Now will have to hurry and watch the things saved in my DVR, plus try to figure out a different service to use. I am aware of Hulu -- any other suggestions?

I like having NBCSports during the cycling season, but I can subscribe separately; and I liked having BBC America from time to time - especially for Dr. Who -- but haven't watched it lately. Really I don't watch TV a heck of a lot, but would miss not having it entirely other than the OTA stations.

We recently suspended HULU and signed on with AppleTV+ streaming. $4.99 per month and family sharing is allowed, up to six family members. Launch date is November 1.

In the near future, AppleTV+ will be made available on Smart TV's and other devices like Roku.

We have YouTube TV. We like it. Its just under 60 bucks a month because we added Starz to it. Normally its 50. It has all the channels we watch, and i haven't missed a Bama game yet. We also have Amazon Prime and i like the Food Network app. Even though i can't watch everything on it (you need to have some sort of cable or satellite service for some of it) I watch the older episodes of Barefoot Contessa, which IMHO, are the best ones anyway. SO usually plants himself on Youtube and gets lost in it, so the YouTube TV and everything else is mainly for me....

The best thing about these steaming services is that unlike normal cable or satellite, most of them have a free trail period and never any fee to cancel, so you can try them all and see what you like!

I am now the proud owner of FOUR 'customer order' numbers from Comcast! And yet, boys and girls, somehow...nothing has been RESOLVED. Yesterday DH and I visited the Comcast/Xfinity store, having been told they could print out the detailed statement plan. Of course they *couldn't! But In ten minutes we were out the door, having been told our new two-year contract would bill at $127/month, and we'd receive an email confirming that. Oh, you *guessed*, didn't you! No email. I have just 'chatted' online with someone in billing. He first told me our contract was for $157, then, no, it was $119. Whoops, no that's the current balance due to credits owed from the $157 bill. What about the $127 contract? "Sorry you were given misinformation. Your contract is for $137." No. No-no-no! We have accepted no contact -- because, silly us, we want to see it in writing. We didn't spend hours on the phone, then be told to go to the store to get this resolved only to be told we not only have no contract for $127, but your representatives lie to people. The 'chat' person says he will take it up with 'management'. In the meantime I have my shiny new *number* and another (empty) promise to hear from management within 48 hours by email AND by telephone. Isn't this FUN?

Last year the then-Oceanic/Time/Warner cable box could be controlled for volume by its remote. Before we arrived this month, new owner Spectrum (Charter) rewired with "digital" cable. They provided a new box and matching remote for the BR box, but left the old box and its remote in the LR. When we couldn't get that remote to control for volume, Spectrum provided a new remote, but not a new cable box. Nope. Still couldn't change volume. Today we will unhook the LR HD-DVR cable box and take it and the new-style remote into the Spectrum office. We are dropping the DVR service. We will get a non-DVR cable box -- and, I hope, a remote that will control volume. (Yeah, sure.) I foresee that we will have to re-do ALL of this if/when we replace the current TV. (sigh) artemis and Bob -- Most of our guests are like you. They are here to enjoy the island, not sit and watch "Days of Our Lives" (or whatever soaps exist today). We rent both via VRBO and an agency. (We can bump their bookings.) I see other people's ads that stress the GIANT TV setups; evidently a larger daily requirement than I'd have thought. You can see our condo and our competition -- 1BR 2Bath Ocean View at Maui Kamaole in South Kihei. I want to get the TV situation settled before calling a photographer for new photos of the condo. (We are the "Many Happy Returns" ad.) raee -- We are getting programming as part of the deal. At one time we had to pay extra for HD; not now. chloecat -- What is an Amazon Prime Box, please? I think we need cable just to get reception here; no OTA signal, and we are prohibited from installing a dish.

Thank you Elmer. The most frustration I had with Comcast was when they had a help desk and would not, could not help me....didn’t know anything about port numbers and shared nothing with Microsoft and visa versa. Hung up in the middle of working with me. They had no skills to help me. They were so bad with computer stuff that I wrote to the New York Times and they ran the letter for 3 days so everyone could vent. A person high up intervened and called me and said I would never have to take the abuse again. He assigned me to the Regional Manager who sent someone out right away. Before that, I was given recording boxes three or four a week that broke down within an hour and had the previous users recordings still on it. That was how our local Comcast manager operated. Honestly a homeless person delivered the box off the back of a truck and swapped out one he had just picked up from another home. I would have to take off work etc. The article in the NYT got me help. Comcast, back before you started with them, saved lots of money and outsourcing to different countries helped. Some of those folks in India were far better educated than in America and stuck with the problem.. Now I can say that this television that lasted 4 1/2 years never had one blip no matter what kind of hurricane we had here and perhaps that has some thing to do with Comcast. There are people who live other places 7 min away in a different county not too far away who hate Comcast and have a chance to get another service and will because their service is out all the time. In my building we have a 2nd generator if that means anything. Life goes on - it was very good to talk to everyone. There is so much to keep in mind I learned a lot Thank you

Nicole, the Ooma box doesn't care what kind of an internet connection it has, so long as it can get to the internet through its connection (usually ethernet cable) to a router. It has a wifi dongle you can get to move the Telo away from the router and pass the telephony over Wifi. Tech support has told me that's not the best way to go, wired is best. Our Ooma service is great - very clear and consistent connections and at such a low price. Without Ooma, we'd chuck our landline number, it's not worth having.

I don't find most of the streaming services that useful to me. It seems like each one offers one or two original programs that pique my interest, but that's not enough for me to pay $12/month per service. I get Amazon Prime automatically. I subscribe to Netflix because my mother likes it. I watch so little that it's cheaper for me to buy a season pass on Amazon or iTunes of the two shows I really love and catch the rest with ads on the various channel apps.

I may try Apple and Disney to see if I fall in love with their programming.

Fun, that's what were doing. HULU offers very little for us. Our grandchildren visit us often so we use Prime, Netflix and PBS Kids most of the time. AppleTV+ will be for us, mostly. There appears to be a few young children programs available.
