HD lawn and garden cashier woes
Comments (88)I personally am a "garden center" worker with a huge name store. I can relate to everyone on every level as I also buy my products from this store. Please understand, that we are all under alot of pressure to get our "stuff" done for the day. As an experienced horticulturist, I find alot of trouble telling the "higher ups" what needs to be done and what "should" be done. I am a single mom with four kids, and need the pay, however, I really try hard to help my customers out with such stuff. I have gone as far as giving customers bug spray for trees that are being sold with "apple tree rust", giving out free replacement plants when our crappy ones fail, etc. Our cashiers only go by what they are told, please dont snap on them. As for the weather,....... we are out in the may snowstorms, freezing until 9pm when our shift is over, trying to preserve the plants, we are out in the pouring rain, like today, soaking wet feet and freezing, we are loading your cars/trucks with dirt/plants/bricks/ and whatever else your fancy entails. I have had customers swear at me.....demand that I help them when I am helping someone else, worked through severe weather and even worked through a `black out`` I would like to ask everyone to please take a little more consideration for your `local garden center worker`` Please , give us a little bit more consideration. Thanks....See MoreMantis Tiller woes

Also unless the hubby's chainsaw was a 4 stroke, the mix isnt the problem . IIRC, Mantis wants 50:1 That is what most chain saws use too. I'm not impressed with your mechanics.. They took the easy way out and changed easy stuff, Charged you for the parts and minimum charge for 10 minutes work. Get the engine running and let it warm up. When it stalls, try to start it Give it some gas if it tries to start but doesnt check the spark I think I remember reading about a run of faulty coils for Echo engines. Research that on google OR The lack of use probably got to the carburettor and clogged something. All I can say is that other than a throttle cable, I have not had any trouble with the the Mantis I inherited from my folks . It runs fine on the rich 32:1 fuel I mix for everything. You can take the carb apart and spray cleaner through the little passages. Then re-assemble. Set the main jet 1 1/2 turns out . and the low speed to to 2 turns . If you googled ' fixing a Mantis carburettor' you may get lucky and find a you tube video . Its not rocket surgery ....See MoreWill foreclosures spark an arson boom?
Comments (13)"But then again--if the house burns down (let's presume accident, and not fraud on the owner's part), and the mortgage-holder gets a check, couldn't a homeowner say, "look the market is bad, etc., why don't we just call it quits? I won't make you rebuild my house, if you'll just write off the loan." And if the insurance payment is enough to wipe out the loan, might not the bank agree? Their note is satisfied, and the owner sells the land, and the mortgage is finished." That is exactly what happened to an unoccupied house in my neighborhood - I don't know if it was in foreclosure, but I do know that the owner was struggling with two mortgages after having already moved into a new home. The house was struck by lightning and enough of the roof burned that it caved in on the second floor. But it doesn't end there. Instead of getting a demolition crew to take what's left down to the slab so that it can be sold, the remains of the house just sit, as an eyesore to the rest of us. Doesn't do our property values any favors, that's for sure! The fire was about 5 months ago....See MoreComputer Talk
Comments (14)Ok, the replacement DVD writer for my Dell laptop is here. I thought I could get Staples to install it for me. But the clerk told me that only so much could be done with laptops. Hmmmm, so where else should I turn that could give me a fast turnaround time? I want to get it repaired while I wait! Actually, Dell has the instructions online for replacing just about every single piece of this laptop. It all starts with taking out the main battery. I think the DVD is a very straightforward series of steps to take out the old one, disconnect the wire harness, put in the new harness, and then stick the new drive back in with reverse order of screws. And do I really NEED to put that main battery back in? I never use the 12 volt power. I'm on the second battery for this laptop which I got on halloween 2006, and never tried to run it on battery power. I think it overheats the unit, don't you? Anyway, that is why I decided to get the Passport Essential LE which holds 1T (about 1000gigs) of stuff. I have another one on order which I expect to arrive today, and THAT one will be my backup source. The first passport drive is my location for older photos but NOT the backup kind of files. I have over 16gig of photos on there. And I can edit them, and such, without having to retrieve from backup. The Passport allows for retrieval from backup of one or more files, and to different computers as well. I like that. I fail to see the usefulness of backing up on my same computer, if that computer might fail to function at all. Anyway, does anyone know of a nation wide quick turn around computer repair? I would not take it to Tandy/Radio Shack, since those guys treated me like Sandy's designer is treating her....See More- 9 years ago
