Well, you could call it Kitt after that black car in Knight Rider, but that wouldn't mean much to your granddaughter. It would be fun to have her help you think of a name.

I only named few of my cars. But Black Betty was one of my favorite names.

I've always named my cars. My current car is a green Soul -- it's name is "Kermit" -- it's the first boy car I've ever owned. The rest have all been girls.

I have never named one. I would think it doesn't have to coordinate with the color. It can be any name that you like. Is there a name that you would have loved to be your own?

My daughter's first car was a Honda...."Wanda Honda"

Our antique Pacer is "Donna" after the woman we bought it from. The lady loved that car and cried when we loaded it up to tow home with us.

Our red chevy truck "Big Red" towed Donna home and has been looking after her in the back garage that they have shared for 19 years now.

I call mine the vroom-vroom, even though it's a diesel suv. Someone is going to have to pry the keys out of my dead hands. I love her so much.

My car is a bright yellow Toyota Scion XB, my little box on wheels. Being bright yellow, I named him Tweety. We've always named all of our vehicles.

I call my car "the car" which is pretty special since I have named it as if it was the only car in the world.

My very first car I called "Putt Putt" but have not named one since then. I have talked to them as in "Come on Baby you can make it up this hill".

We don't usually name cars, but we have a Dodge Ram pickup truck which a friend named Big Red. When I got my blue Jeep Liberty, he designated her as Little Blue. I generally don't use their names unless I'm talking to my friend.

Haven't named a car in years, but when my first husband and I bought a little VW square back (our first car!), we named it "Waltraud" and it's nickname was "Traudl". My husband had spent a year in Austria after college graduation and loved the name (yes, it's a girl's name in German). My DGSs call their nearly 20 years old Suburban "Big Bertha".

I bought an X1 small suv last year. When I pulled into the garage I realized it was a little shorter than my BMW sedan I had previously, so I named her Shawty (Shorty).

edited to add: my DH doesn’t usually name his trucks, but when he bought his Miata convertible, he named it ‘Blue’, as its dark blue. It seems everyone in our Miata club names their Mx-5’s.

We’ve named only one car: the red Civic coupe felt like a little race car next to our big grey minivan, so we called It Zippy. It didn’t have a gender, though.

Well it seems that it never occurred to you to name your car until your grand daughter brought it up. So why not just let her name for you?

I don't have a car but have a golf cart we call my Big Rig. My husband had a cube truck a long time ago and we all called it Cubert. the dump truck is called Dumpy.

We don't normally name our cars, but we jokingly named our old Saturn SC2. We had one that was totaled and my husband just loved that car so much that he had to have another one just like it. The car was a total lemon and we spent a ton of money trying to get it into shape. We joked that it was a doppelganger of the old one and an evil imitation. The name then came to us, we called it Sylar from the Heroes TV series. Sylar was an evil man that could make himself look like other people. So, it was Sylar from then on.

How about Kimi-Kuro? - Hondas are Japanese so Kimi is a Japanese name for "she who is without equal" and Kuro means "black".

I've never named a car, but my grandma had a small blue VW bug in the 60s/70s that she named Herman. She was single, but it sounded like she had partner as it was always, "when are grandma and Herman coming?", or, "Herman and grandma should be here soon."

In my family, we name all of our vehicles, including the tractor and mowers lol. We always refer to them by name, like a pet. It’s so normal to us we just do it. When my son got engaged it was a bonus to us when we discovered her car was named Calvin! So I tend to use names from music or pop culture.

My first and much missed MINI, El Kabong

Named from cartoon character, when I got him I thought the black top and wing looked like a cape.

Daughter’s on top, Wulfric, mine on bottom, Mozart(full name GoKart Mozart) In the MINI community, they are jokingly called street legal go-karts. Got the name from the lyric in the song, Blinded by the Light.

Husband’s current, Huckleberry. DH is from North Carolina as is Huckleberry Hound, and the color is similar, sooooo

My current is Witchiepoo. From the kids show in the 60’s HR Puffnstuff, the evil witch! She sang a song called Oranges Poranges, so the perfect name for an orange MINI.

No name for mine, it's just my transportation.

My grandkids always name the cars...Lucy, Betsy, Sadie, Percy, and Evie.

I have a Lincoln Nautilus named Captain Nemo.

My current SUV is nameless, as most of my vehicles have been. Vehicles, like other things, seem to me to have to kind of earn their names. I had one that was "The Yellow Olds of Texas", and another was "The Old Gray Mare". If I were to have a black vehicle (not likely to happen), and I liked it a lot, I would probably call it "Black Beauty". Yeah, I know, not very original, but I love horses and I loved that book as a child.

I don't name my cars usually...right now I'm calling mine "Ol' girl" she's coming up on almost 100,000 miles. Hopefully I didn't jinx myself and knocking on wood, I was just telling DD that I haven't had to put any money into my car except the normal maintenance stuff. 2012 Camry...so I'm expecting to get a lot of mileage of it.

Well, watchmelol, years ago when my car seemed the dependable one among my friends, my friends name it .."she who starts".

This was a brainstorming session for me . Loved the ideas ..favorite tv shows , music , the LBD, etc. I did ask my granddaughter when she got home..her answer was Delores. I like it , not a final answer yet but I like it so far .

Loved the mini names..her gf got a mini so we liked reading about those.

The car I own now, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, is the only car I have ever named. My previous car was also an Elantra. In 2013, on my way home from on the freeway, a sedan three cars ahead of me slammed on the brakes and the o vehicles ahead of me did the same, as did I. But to make sure I didn't rear-end the pickup in front of me, I also pulled toward the shoulder. I would have been fine, except the gal behind me (she said later that she was fiddling with her radio) drifted right, hit my car and sent me over a 300 foot embankment. My car flipped onto its roof and slid all the way down the embankment, back end first. The rear window shattered and my car became a giant shovel, hitting the back of my head with lots of dirt. At the bottom she flipped over again, landing right side up. Scary as Hell!

Amazingly, I had some scratches, a few bruises and whiplash. I walked up the embankment with the help of one of the sweet men who came to my immediate aid.

When I got my new car, I chose another Elantra. I figured the safety features were sufficient because I lived through the incident.

Sorry for the long story, but the reason I named my new car "Helen"? My previous car took me to Hell n' back and if the need arises, I hope this one will too!
