The sink would be too low like 4 1/2" too low.

Your feet would be kicking this vanity at all times as the toe kick is meant to be used for this.

No side splash or backsplash = potential of wall water damage through normal use.

This vanity is meant to be free standing and not to be up against a wall.

I would select something else as there are many options out there.

The money you save by buying this versus what it will take in labor to modify and future issues will cancel itself out.

All good points. Though I'm not sure what you meant about it being free standing and not up against the wall. I'm not planning on mounting it on a wall. Can you clarify the point you were making there?

This vanity stands 35" high, I prefer it to be 30-31". Hopefully the legs aren't more than 4 inches tall, maybe I can call the company and find out. It should be pretty simple to add a backsplash. That's a good point about the feet kicking it, I never thought of that. Maybe I can sit it on a simple frame. This one is $900, and the one I can get at the local cabinet store would be $1400.

You'd think there would be a lot of options of vanities sitting flush with the floor, with stained wood (not white or gray), under 23" deep, and less than $1,000. .but there are surprisingly few! I've looked through thousands on Wayfair, Lowes, Home Depot, Overstock. Maybe I'm missing some big places to check?

So you're talking about cutting off the legs and then you'd "sit it on a simple frame" so you have a toe kick? Butchering the cabinet in the picture would turn a nicely proportioned and airy piece of furniture into something clunky. I think you should keep looking until you find something that appeals to you that you don't feel requires surgery.

Any local cabinet shop can create what you need without the limitations of pre fab online shopping.

You could always add a toekick to a vanity with legs. But getting a custom piece might be your best option. IMO, the legs of the vanity you posted "go" with the rest of the cabinet details, and removing them would make the piece look incongruous with the base.

For all the reasons above, you are being penny wise and pound foolish not to get exactly what you want.

You say you have located a cabinet that works for. you which is $1400? Given the many years it should theoretically be used, it would certainly be worth it for me not to have some kind of hacked up vanity.

Also you haven't asked but I am on the short side and recently remodeled and my bathroom counter is now approximately 36" instead of the shorter height of my old one. Even though I am relatively short, this one is much more functional as I no longer have water splashing all over the place when I rinse my face. Obviously one wouldn't want a vessel sink but a standard under mount sink is perfect.

36" high bathroom vanities are the newish standard height. Dial back a few years and the shorter vanities were the standard.

OP could use a floating vanity and mount it at whatever height desired.

Another possibility would be to use 'office' cabinets---most all cabinet companies have an office line designed to finish out at desk height, around 30-31", IIRC.

I remember the vanities in the first house I bought, which had been built in 1952. They were all about 30" high...and annoying. When we remodeled, we made all vanities about 36". This was not only for our benefit, but with an eye to selling in the future. When the kids were little, they needed a small step to stand on, but they survived ;-)

The “furniture” look is very much “in” for bathroom vanities. If you don’t like that look, most of the mainstream kitchen cabinet manufacturers also make traditional bathroom cabinetry. One even makes accessory feet to make traditional cabinetry look like furniture. If the folks in the plumbing department at your local big box home improvement store can’t help, try the kitchen department.

I would be willing to bet that the manufacturer doesn’t make a backsplash and the color/pattern will be difficult, if not impossible to find.
