Is anyone using rock dust in the garden?
Comments (15)hamchuck, you are pretty much just confusing the heck out of me. Azomite does have some scientific support to show that it remineralizes soils. Greensand can be overused, it should be used in moderation. Granite dust does indeed work very slowly, which is why it is a fantastic element to add to soil. Just like most rocks which gradually break down in soil releasing their minerals, so does granite. It is also excellent for increasing drainage, and it is cheap. Not all counties in Georgia have operative extensions, so getting a soil test from the store may be all that people have access to. Where did you get your information about lime and soil binding. It is not accurate....See MoreOT: HGTV dream home give away...reaction
Comments (74)Some of you are so mean...she's drunk, dosen't wash her hair, fights with her husband, has stitches, and is ungrateful. Sheesh she was shocked and probably scared with that banshee screaming in her face. And nothing would peeve me off more than a freak screaming at me about how I should feel about my great fortune, like some charity case or something. It's cool to win..but sheesh umm to say it in the worst way possible (what I was thinking while watching STFU woman!) A good hostess would have seen she was overwhelmed; she should have lowered her voice, put her arm around the poor woman and said something about her obviously being in shock instead of continuing to scream in her face. That would have helped the woman calm down and then develop a proper reaction that would make America happy. Normally for programs like this they call the winners and tell them that they're winning a prize in the show so to be prepared, but not that they are winning THE prize. That's how they get the house staged and the correct signatures authorizing the show (ie everyone in the house had to agree it was ok to be on film). The hostess belongs on HGTV. She was unprofessional and obnoxious and very low class, much like the majority of HGTV shows now a days. It was actually hard to watch, painful really. I feel for the poor woman. I'd personally like to help her financially if she needs it but I guarantee, she's getting calls like that every 30 seconds (I banked 4 lottery winners...I know the drill). She's probably now more overwhelmed, and depressed after America's beat the he!! out of her. She deserves a hug and some sound financial counseling, and some time alone (and probably not in the US where we beat people up for not acting like Lauren Lake)....See MoreNew Show HGTV'd....leather floors?
Comments (61)House Hunters International, yes, I love seeing the ones that are not tropical. We are amazed at how much you can get a house for in a tiny little town in Italy... we're like "We could afford that!!" Course the ones we could afford need major work, LOL. Agree with everyone on Color Splash Miami... if I could call him on the phone, I'd beg him to go back to San Francisco. I love David Bromstad, but can't stand his show anymore. His helpers have zero personality. While I think it's cool that his design assistant is someone who I think just got her degree, so she's kind of an intern, I really miss Ian and Danielle. The two women on this show don't do anything that requires skill, all they do is shop and answer cell phone calls that say stuff is not coming/going to be late. And the two men who actually have skill have no personality and rarely talk to the camera....See MoreMy 85 year old Mother watching too much HGTV :o)
Comments (33)My daughter and I are just finishing up a project of doing over one of the empty bedrooms as a guest room. It's been a better experience than I was anticipating. My daughter surprised me with her degree of flexibility and cooperation. She and I are both very opinionated and our tastes overlap some but she tends more toward contemporary and I lean toward country/traditional. I was worried we'd get into a conflict over it, but we've done great! I wanted purple for a paint color, but she talked me into blue. That was fine, my husband's favorite color is blue so I thought it was about time we did something in a color he likes. Then we went to the paint store together and we were pretty close on the color shade we wanted. When we got to the store, we both decided to go by the rule of choosing one shade lighter than you think you need and we both LOVE the color, now that it's done! She liked a contemporary duvet cover and I didn't hate it, but I feel deprived without florals. [g] So, in a stalemate, she asked what her father liked. She's been very mindful that the room is at our house and we should like it. Very thoughtful of her. So when I gave him the choices he chose the exact duvet cover I wanted, without knowing it was that one. I was very surprised. Now that the room is just about done, my daughter likes the duvet cover as much as I do. She wants roman shades on the windows and I like that idea too, but I LOVE lace at the window. Since I had lace panels in the house and it's not winter yet, we put them up for the time being and she really likes them now too...lol. And I'll take my time finding some roman shades before winter. We have influenced each other in a positive way and now we all like the room. It's SO good to have a room done, but who ever said, do one room and nothing motivates you more to start fixing everything was so right. My father used to say the same thing. My mother would suggest they start painting and he would always begin by saying 'No, you paint one room and you end up painting the whole house and replacing the carpet, etc.' It's very noticeable that we need to paint the rest of the first floor now. It has been 15 years since we painted last. [g]...See MoreUser
