Samsung get absolutely no love on this site. They seem to have the most bells and whistles of any brand. But because of that, things also tend to break frequently. And we keep reading horror stories about how many of their appliances are unrepairable after only a few years. There might very well be a statistical bias in these reports, as Samsung happens to sell so many units. But I personally wouldn't want to chance it.

I have limited personal experience with Kitchenaid. We have one of their dishwashers. For the cheap price, it is doing "OK". But it has its set of design flaws and things keep breaking about once a year. The good news is that parts are cheap and easy to find; and in many cases, things can be repaired with the help of Youtube videos. And then, of course, there are consumers like you who have had really good luck with Kitchenaid. 13 years is a good run for many consumer brands.

I like appliances made by the BSH group (and that includes Bosch). So, I would take a look at them. But I don't recall any particularly outstanding reviews for their refrigerators. They are probably fine. But if you need repair, you might have to pay more than for domestic brands. Check the service network in your area.

If you want a brand that has a reputation for longevity and good serviceability, then nothing really beats SubZero. Unfortunately, the manufacturer knows that and prices their appliances accordingly. You'll quite likely get 25 years of service life out of a SubZero fridge. But you pay up-front for this.

What do you mean by counter depth? Some models are called counter depth but stick out 6” or more from face of cabinets. If you want true counter depth you’ll be looking at higher end Sub Zero, Etc. I personally like the Liebherr refrigerators as they are a much better price and only stick out a few inches from face of cabinets.

Not a built it as my kitchen won’t allow fro that. Just a “counter depth.” Yes they still stick out a bit but far less than a traditional size.

My 2005 Maytag mfc2061heb counter depth French door is still going strong without any repairs. I made the decision to have the ice maker removed and not hook the fridge up to water when I had it delivered so that may have something to do with its reliability. My other Maytag kitchen appliances are also still fine as well. Now watch me jinx myself.

Looks like the current Maytag has remained pretty much the same and I’ll probably replace it with another one as it has one of the shortest cases of all the ones out there(68 9/16) which just barely fits under my cabinets.

Thanks. My kitchenaid has bee strong as well. The garage LG (both 2006) has begun making a terrible noise. So the thought is to move the kitchenaid out and replace it since it is also old. Thanks

My KA has been good for almost 6 years. I don’t expect to get another 6 though. Everything is built with planned obsolescence.
