Seeking opinions on which color to paint home exterior
Comments (2)I think the colors you have look a little too taupe, and the other one looks too rosy/lavender/gray. It's just a little blah looking. may I offer a few other color combos? I like the idea of a darker fascia (I know this is brick), but look at the gray/taupe tone paired w/the darker fascia color (right against the roof) The underside would be painted in the white or lighter tone For example, Stone lion-stucco, Divine white trim and underside, Iron Ore (Or Urbane Bronze) for the fascia. (and if you can do the window trim w/it I'd do the darker there too) see the color combo on this tudor? Garage door. do a darker shade than the stucco, get some carriage hardware for the door, and new exterior lights. The white ones you have just don't work That plaque on the side of the house w/the light, can that be removed? for around the garage door, Either of these lights would look better. get them in dark brass or ORB or even a copper another example a few colors. I know this is more modern, but just look at the way the colors were used. Ditto here. Some other color combos. door looks great w/a little hardware. it's cheap. Amazon has them...See MoreDesperately Seeking Curb Appeal
Comments (6)Anything too grandiose won't match the house. Also if the tree is to be retained nothing should be done underneath it that might kill it. Finally if a number of shrubs are added these should include ones tall enough that the planting has height variation, interacts visually with the house....See MoreDesperately seeking advice on replacement windows
Comments (17)Thought I'd post an update on my window progress. I went with Kolbe Forgets (Sliders; Glastra/Wood option). The windows seem to be well made and they are very nice but I have issues that I did not expect. 1. I did not realize that when I chose wood interior that the inside frame would still be white (exterior is bronze). 2. For some reason, the windows come with trim on the bottom and right side only. I guess these are casing stops. I have no idea who would want trim pieces on only 2 sides of their windows. Kolbe told me that's the way they come. That make absolutely no sense to me. 3. My sliding glass door arrived with only the stationary panel, not the sliding panel. Now that will take a while because the interior is stained wood. 4. Received one window that was not notched to slide so it's very hard to open & close. The salesman did ask Kolbe to replace that one. All in all, they are pretty and substantial windows but I am really disappointed in the above issues. It may be partly my fault but I would never have expected to see bronze Glastra, white Glastra and wood on my windows from the inside. The Kolbes I've seen in showrooms don't look anything like that. This was my first experience ordering windows but I looked around and researched for 2 years. I think Kolbe could do a much better job with the information in their literature. Thanks again to everyone here for all of your help & feedback!...See MoreSeeking virtual exterior painters.
Comments (7)Many paint companies have color visualizer/virtual paint options on their sites. Some allow you to upload your photo and "paint" it, but you can also use photos they provide. Just choose one of their exterior photos. Some start by having you upload a photo or choosing one of theirs. Others start by having you choose a color or colors, then having you click on a "visualize" tab. Benjamin Moore Sherwin-Williams PPG Behr Do a search for the paint company you would prefer to use along with "visualizer" or "virtual paint" to see what comes up. Below is what the Behr site looks like with a particular chosen exterior photo. For Behr exterior paint you need to choose colors marked with a 1....See MoreNancy R z5 Chicagoland
