Freaking out: Painter doing ext. trim and doors and
Comments (36)Well he is coming in a half hour! I picked smokehouse for the door. The darker of the two and the trim in the virtual taupe. (one shade up lighter). We are going on vacay next week and we are going to do the shutters ourselves when we return. He quoted just the other painting and has several other jobs and said he could come back in October. Once I get this done I want to post pics and then revisit the shutters. Maybe navy will work with the darker door/lighter trim etc.? I will post and maybe someone can PS them on. I was also think a super deep red. We are going to be adding some landscape boulders along the edges of the landscape and I wanted to see how that looked too. I was worried about the garage door paint and I opened it and painted a strip on the garage door. It matches the siding. It is a high gloss enamel for the garage door, it seems WAY lighter than the color swatch though. Kind of good since I was thinking it was too yellow. Does high gloss normally look lighter???...See MoreSelling our home -- seeking advice
Comments (24)The first thing I noticed was the 1% 2% 3% and holy cow - that's crazy low! I just have to assume that's the listing agent's split because I wouldn't bring a buyer to a house if my split was .5% - not worth my time or effort unless we're talking about over $500K. (That said, I might steer a buyer towards the house on their own if it's what they are looking for, but I would remove myself from being involved in the transaction unless the buyer would be willing to pay me adequately.) OP: You're right, this forum often tends towards anti-FSBO, but keep in mind that many of us are RE professionals, and many of us have been around this forum for years and years, bought and sold many many homes (w/ and w/o agents), and basically, we've seen dozens and dozens of folks interested in FSBO who are obviously researching on the internet and run across this forum, sign up, and on the same day (pointing finger at you) and post a bunch of questions hoping to save a few bucks. Because you are new, we don't know if you have any idea what you're getting yourself into (and most don't, unlike you) and for those folks, we tend to advise not going FSBO. Many new members don't ever return to check the responses anyway, so you also won't always get very good answers on the first go-around either, because us older and wiser folks know it's not worth our time and effort to answer to someone who won't even read them. As you've experienced, once you engage, you'll start getting the answers you need. Good luck with your sale!...See MoreSeeking votes/opinions - Uppers on BS Window and Sink Wall
Comments (83)@ sena01 - Thanks for the personal experience with this kind of thing. It always helps hearing from people who have been there. And for your vote! @island - Aunt lives between Naples and Ft. Myers. I haven't been down there yet, but it sounds beautiful. The pics are great. They have a floorplan I would love, with the whole house centered around the back in a big U. That would so not work in Alaska, given you need every inch of sun here you can get. But, I just love that kind of floorplan. Now that I understand what you are liking, I can mock some things up. I do want to make the point, though, that those 18" cabinets are slightly over 1/2 the size of the 30" uppers. Isn't that what you said you preferred? @mpagmom - Well, I gotta say, that's a pretty cool sink. I don't know how hard it would be to find a sink like that or how much it would cost. Also, not sure if it really works with what I am doing here? I can sure look into it, though. I assume you are talking about the greenish kitchen when you say dark gray? That is a nice kitchen. You know, Marcolo used those exact words on me - "think slate". I'm just not really finding one I like - except the one on the back of that peninsula in the pic I posted again above. And, my neighbor friend directly across the street has a slate BS and I don't really want to do the same thing... Good question, Deedles. I know we don't have any current problems with that, but the cabinets are raised up. I want whatever is in the punch bowl, though. Monday morning or not. My partner mocked up what it might feel like at the sink last night by clamping up a board. I'm not having any problems with it, being short. He wasn't loving it. We are going to leave it up for a while and see how it feels over time....See MoreDesperately Seeking- Perfect Gray/Blue Exterior Paint Color for Stucco
Comments (3)Ask your painter if they use SW or Dunn Edwards. Have them pick up a quart of each of your two choices in the preferred brand, and then have them paint a 4 foot wide swath from floor to ceiling on the front wall....See Moreflopsycat1
