Decorator's White is actually quite a cool grey so I don't think it will give your living room a cozy look. Chantilly Lace is VERY white so again I don't think it will do much for the space. I agree that White Dove will be warm and not too creamy since it has a grey undertone. You might also want to look at Benjamin Moore Sheep's Wool 857 which is the more gray than the White Dove, still warm and light enough to open up the space.

Thank a lot for all the advice! I will check out BM Sheep’s Wool. The concern I had with White Dove is whether it might end up looking yellow in the evening. The room faces west and the sun is mostly filtered by huge evergreens bordering the fence.

So what little light that gets through most of the day is reflected and greenish blue. And around sunset the room is filled with an orange glow. Also most of the day, lights need to be on in the living / dining and kitchen.

I am not sure what the current colors are but I find the yellow tones overpowering. I prefer a crisp neutral airy look myself. If I had to choose, I’d tend more towards cooler tones than warmer tones.

Think of White Dove like a creamy gray. It does have a bit of yellow in it but it won't look yellow yellow on the wall if that makes sense. You also have to remember that you will be replacing the rug and couch which will update the space. Also, I would choose white molding to frame the walls.

Would you consider a pale, grayed aqua such as Benjamin Moore Whispering Spring? It would give you a crisp, airy look and I would consider it rather neutral as it is a subdued color. I think it would look pretty in your room with your beautiful rug!

I like the warmth of the brick! Wait until everything else is done to paint that if you still feel like it needs it, as you can't go back on the brick like you can on the walls.

Thanks that’s good advice, I’ll keep that in mind. Perhaps the red brick will grow on me after the rest of the room has a cooler color.

Thanks Carolae BM Whispering Spring looks so soothing. I am tempted to use it in the entryway which get much better light than the living room and has similar aqua colored rugs. While looking it up, I also came across Ocean Air which seems slightly darker and more greenish blue.
