Radiator cover top -- how to dress up?
Comments (12)Your rad cover is very much like one my DH made for a house we had many years ago. I put plants on mine as well altho did 'cook' an azalea. Best to use good waterproof cache pots or plant pot saucers under them to prevent staining. You might consider using burlap as a runner as it's not necessary to sew it. Just trim evenly to the size you want and pull a few threads to make a fringe. You could use a product called "Fray Check" to prevent the fringe from further fraying. I've made two such runners from some leftover burlap I had bought for other crafts. Didn't use Fray Check so have to be very careful with them. Burlap is masculine and a bit rustic and I like it for my rustic/refined decor....See MoreHow to Dress Up Blackout Curtains
Comments (16)I have french doors at the end of my dining room, and no matter what the color of the drapes, they are going to look like a big blob when closed. You might consider mixing the drapes with patterned or textured blinds, in which case you could open the drapes most of the time, particularly when you were in there. Or if you are handy, sew a patterned panel into the bottom of the drapes. But no matter how you slice it, closed long drapes are a big blob of something on a wall. If it were me, I'd spend the money on blinds for the windows and mix them with the current drapes. Another option I considered for privacy was fake or real stained glass inserts....See MoreNeed help with Living Room Design
Comments (10)All the seats are too far apart for good conversation, and none are positioned to watch TV. Can you move TV down to the left credenza? Then pull the sofa into that side of the room facing the FP/TV wall. The two chairs can make a private conversation area by the railing. You could put a game table between them for chess, etc, The coffee table is a bit too tall for the sofa. It should arrive level or maybe 1" above the seat height, and it should sit 12-18" from the sofa so it can be useful. You could probably use a sofa table behind the sofa, and you do need some lamps. A rug that is at least 2 feet wider than the sofa will warm things up a lot. I like your art, but it is hung too high. Center it 5' above the floor and center the one on the stairwell between the railing and ceiling. Do you have a spot for a bench?...See MoreNew Bathroom needs a Backsplash
Comments (4)That kind of modern vanity looks best without a backsplash. If it's a basement bath, I presume that it gets less use than the others, so as long as you use an eggshell paint (and caulk between vanity and wall), there shouldn't be any issues....See MoreArm G
