Need help with living room design
Comments (14)Thank you again to all who have replied. The room is roughly 350 square feet. Here is a mock up of the layout with measurements: If we do go with a sectional, we will want something no bigger than the one pictured in the West Elm living room (first inspo pic in original post - the Crosby 2-Piece Chaise Sectional). We thought that would be a good option because it offers a bit more seating, but again, we are open to suggestions and we definitely don't want to room to feel cramped! Incorporating additional seating with the stools at the kitchen island is a great idea. We have considered going with leather given that our dog sheds like crazy, so we're still keeping that in mind. I don't think leather is quite as comfortable, but we're open to it. Sounds like the general consensus is to lighten up the window treatments (which my husband was hoping for, so score one in his column!). I am all for making this room look and feel light and open. What do you all think of keeping the blinds but switching out the curtains to something lighter? Again, thanks to everyone who has ideas/suggestions!...See Moreneed help living room design
Comments (22)Is that dimension for Sofa or love seat? The photo shows a 3 cushion sofa and a 2 cushion love seat. From experience, with a configuration of a room like yours you have a walkway to maintain between this room and the kitchen area. We like at least 3’ for that but if their is a bar where you might want bar stools add another 2 feet. So this reduces the usable furniture footprint of the room quite a bit. I will do a scale drawing for you later today but we may have avoided a big mistake. You were wise to post and ask for assistance because most don’t understand space planning. Add to that the allusion that higher ceilngs give and boom you have a challenge. But i know how to solve this. First, eliminate the love seat. One sofa and one or two chairs will work so much better. I will be back later today. Have appointments until around 4pm central time US. Don’t worry, you can start looking for “condo/apt” size sofa for starters. Comments (4)I would see about removing your soffit. The vertical lines of the intersection of the upper ceiling with the soffit and the soffit itself, and the corner wall line are jarring to (my) eyes....See MoreNeed help completing living room design for small apartment
