albert- If your wife used Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, it has removed most, but not all, of McAfee. (If she did something else, like only deleted the shortcut for McAfee, it's still there). You can go to the link posted above for the McAfee Uninstaller, download it, and run it to remove everything. I believe it works even if you have already done a partial removal, but not sure. At any rate it won't screw anything up to try it. Also, I've never seen McAfee automatically bill for a subsciption renewal without your consent. I suspect one of you clicked on a button somewhere - like in an email to you from McAfee, or in an update notice as the program approached the anniversary date - and that you agreed to renew your subscription, and probably had to enter your credit card info for the subscription. Lastly, reassure me that you are running some other kind of antivirus software on your computer.

My niece is almost 50 and she said in no uncertain terms, no one will touch it. We found one model that was being replaced with a new model and got it for $399. I think her daughter might look it over just to see what kind it is, but she has uncommonly good sense. Her nieces and nephews are the problem, because they do things their way and that is the right way. They wanted her to buy protection, free stuff is not good enough. She took my word that is was fine. Setting up this PC was harder than usual, I think it was because I had someone looking over my shoulder, but some the things were very different. I forgot spyware blaster, will do it the next time we meet. I did the other stuff except for CC, I didn't want her to get into the registry. I have a list explanations and instructions on my PC and will print one off for her. She didn't want a password to turn on her PC and I agreed with her since she is the only one who will use it. When I did that one day the PC would not accept my pass word. HP would not help me either.

I give up. I'm going to wheedle the money to take this machine to a repair shop. I fail to understand that if you think the user is the problem, PEBCAK, that you would bother to respond. There are too many problems for me to resolve from the Win10 uninstall. The uninstall was recommended by Microsoft Tech Support after he failed to help me fix Mail, Calendar, Cortana, People apps during a 2 1/2 Hour phone call. Since last Sept. I've been trying to get this machine to work as it should. I've spent many hours on MS site, looking for articles on other sites that address our problems. My husband and I have spent many hours searching and trying to resolve these problems. 5 months. The last thing we need is snarky comments, snotty opinions and in general, erroneous assumptions. This was always a place for us to come to ask for help. It's not any longer, and the pointless crap is a waste of time when we have spent so much of it trying to fix this ourselves. Many thanks to those of you who asked specific questions and gave good advice and shared your knowledge. You are truly a God send to those of us who need help.

Microsoft sort of tricks you into making your login the email account and then you need to login to your windows with that email account password. It really makes like simple for the majority of people ways. You can add a 4 digit PIN to your computers account then login to the computer with that PIN instead of the password. Sometimes you will need that password,, but its not often. To make a PIN type into the Cortana search bar 'set PIN' pretty simple. If you truly don't want any kind of password go to : Settings / Accounts .. and under your account name you should see... 'Sign in with local account' go there and will prompt for your password to prove who you are, and then you can make a name for your account with out the email, but don't put in a password for that name. Keep in mind when you don't have any password to login to your computer, anybody can come and probably access your email and maybe even banking & go shopping most anywhere you had your login and password saved. So if the grandkid sees a fancy toy and buys it... you find a FedEx delivery at your door.
