Painting dark knotty pine cabinets and paneled walls
Comments (5)All the decor and little knick knacks are going - these are pics I was able to snap in secret during our last visit. Anything grandma leaves behind is going in storage before we move in. The lighting will absolutely be replaced - the room will be much brighter, but I'm still dealing with dark orange/brown cabinets and walls. I'm not sure about the measurements because I was trying to be conspicuous and not look like I was thinking of taking a demo crew to the whole thing while grandma was around. But raising the cabinets is a challenge due to the fact that removing the extraneous high cabinets is a job that is a bit beyond me and I am trying to stick with DIY projects. Moving is going to cost us a lot, so I'm trying to keep home improvement projects as cheap as possible right now. And I'm doing any and all projects solo because my husband works out of town for months at a time. I can paint, I can't remove cabinets yet. I basically want to paint all the wood in the kitchen and dining room. There are some built ins opposite the kitchen - I figure I'll either paint or stain them depending on how the kitchen and dining room turn out. I love wood, I really do! I just hate knotty pine with a passion. If I can keep the wood grain but lighten things up, I'll be a happy homemaker....See MoreKitchen remodel painting dilemmas......help!!
Comments (10)@Patricia Colwell Thanks so much! I really like the Gray Wisp. :) I also just looked at Quiet Moments. I have some existing furniture that I will have to work with, and am going to order Samplize squares to see if one of these green grays works. I haven't posted photos as to be honest, right now my home is totally torn up with boxes of packed materials, along with all of the construction tools, boxes of flooring, and cabinets stacked in every room. There just isn't much to see. Do you know off hand what Sherwin Williams colors are similar to the Gray Wisp/Quiet Moments? I've seen Sea Salt which I just read is similar but I recall it looking more blue in the space I saw it in. My contractor will be using SW paint. Have you seen Gray Wisp in North and East facing rooms? I tried samples of several of the more greige colors and they were very cold and drab in those rooms. I am not wanting a super cool effect, and would like something that leans subtle and warm. I appreciate you taking the time to offer me suggestions!...See MoreTwo-tone wood dilemma (kitchen & main), painting suggestions please.
Comments (2)The light trim all over on the doors etc, doesnt bother me at all. However, that light piece on top of the cabinets, would drive me nuts. I would replace that with cherry. Leave the rest until you have lived in the house for a while. Once you paint it, it will be paint and touch ups forever, so best to make darn sure, thats exactly what you want....See MoreWhites Dilemma! Chantilly Lace Simply/Super White. Cabinets Trim walls
Comments (34)@Dawne, you don't bother me. Ask as many questions as You need. Most are 6" ( upper cabinets and some smaller drawers ) and 8" on longer drawers....See MoreAnglophilia
