Did anyone else see Downton Abbey?
Comments (124)Vee, sorry, I only just noticed your post to me about Death Comes to Pemberley. I don't watch Downton Abbey so haven't been following this thread. I can't remember what I said about the book either but the TV show looks interesting and I shall see if I can get an advance DVD download as I don't know when it will be shown here or it may have been on Foxtel satellite which I don't have. I don't get the time to watch everything I'd like on "Free to air" as it is! I have heaps of programs that sit in the recorder.......See MoreSpeaking of Downton Abbey and downloading videos....
Comments (9)At one point, someone posted a BLOG that had links to Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife that could be streamed even when they were not on the PBS site. I thought I had it book marked, but I cannot find it now :( They had episodes, I think, even that had not aired in the US yet. Does anyone remember what that was? It was a not a blog you would have thought would have had the streaming video links (i.e. it wasn't like a TV Blog)....See MoreDownton Abbey
Comments (96)They made it clear during of the course of the series that Darrow was angry and frustrated because he lived in a time and place where his biologically ingrained interests were generally considered about as appealing and welcome as those of Dracula or Jack the Ripper. Don't forget as well - as Lord Grantham reiterated when they were saying their goodbyes out in front of the house - that Thomas saved one of them from a fire. No, what seems a stretch is entrusting someone who was just recently so overwhelmed as to attempt suicide with running the house. Before Carson was forced into retirement I assumed Moseley's departure was gong to be Thomas' salvation. Definitely by the end in particular the show was being written to protray the Granthams as our own special family that had more empathy than might have been the norm - for what was essentially a slave system in many ways. Note for example the scene where his (temporary, as it turns out) new employer harrumphs about Thomas wanting New Year's off. And Thomas promises it's just going to be this one time only. What other purpose would this scene have had than to show how things were actually better at Downton than usual?...See MoreAnyone have experience with Downton Abbey roses?
Comments (16)I bought Ediths Darling & Violets Pride about 6 weeks ago, So far VP is a blooming machine with great fragrance. ED not as quick to repeat, only slightly fragrant. Both are in big pots and no diseases so far. Other roses in our yard are suffering black spot and mildew because of the drizzle. Bought Pretty Lady 2 days ago so not much to report except healthy looks....See Morearcy_gw
