Flooring Design Dilemma

Advice on selection on flooring and quality

Need advice on flooring selection and quality. Vinyl plank would be installed in kitchen, great room, and master bedroom on main level of home. Walls are painted a SW balanced beige. Want warm tones with hints of gray. Am concerned about possible hues of lavender.......Anyone else think this may be an issue. Also want to make sure this is a quality product. American Showcase Product. Thank you in advance.

Medium quality. Completely wrong color. Much too gray and dated. You need a more classic wood colored wood.

Take the sample and put it in the rooms with the paint colour. Leave it there over the 5 different lighting situations (early morning, mid-morning, afternoon, late afternoon, night). See what you think. If you see a clash at ANYTIME during those 5 lighting situations then you know you have the wrong colour.

The thickness of the vinyl is nice (7mm is nice) but the WEAR layer = 12 mil is mediocre. The GOOD products have a wear layer of 20 mil. See what you can find that has the same thickness with a better wear layer. Once you put the 7mm together with 20 mil wear layer you are into the "Good Quality" range.

Quality of Nourison rugs from Select Rugs

This is an old post but for anyone who is wondering...the rugs that the designer quoted OP for are hand knotted and Nourison ones OP posted are hand tufted. Knotted is of significantly better quality and more luxurious than the Nourison tufted rugs. $25K for two is steep but that is because OP went to a high end furniture store. Furniture stores ALWAYS charge double because they buy from factory direct stores like RugKnots so they have to mark the rugs up to turn a profit. Factory direct will always be cheaper and of the same quality. The hand tufted rugs OP choose are wonderful but they do not even begin to compare in quality to a hand knotted rug. Hand made, hand woven, hand spun= Tufted by machine. The reason marketers get away with it because human hands load the yarn into the machine that makes the rug. They are NOT made by hand.

Good points. A good thermally-broken aluminum window is going to last longer and hold up better than vinyl in the Texas sun while offering narrower profiles and a sleak appearance. However, as Todd said, they likely won't meet the numbers required for a permit in Austin these days. Soft-lite makes a very nice line of vinyl windows, but the two companies that offer them in Texas are not companies that I would deal with. One charges an arm and a leg and the other is hit and miss. Unfortunately, premium grade vinyl windows aren't widely distributed in Texas. I would consider NT Windows (Presidential, Energy Master, Traditions) before Simonton or Andersen. It's not a top-tier window, but it is made in Texas, is widely distributed and better than most vinyl windows offered in the great state of Texas.

Impossible to tell if the color would work as you have not provided any pictures of the sample in your home.

And I would never rule out gray as a color - I much prefer it to awful browns and reds and oranges.
