Granite vs Stainless Steel Sinks
Comments (4)I have the the Silgranit in white, and I love it except for the whiteness which has stained since 2006 when it went in. It looks like it's the same as what they're now calling the Diamond, in the 1 3/4 size. I use the smaller side as a dish drainer (so no drainer on the countertop.) I've got a garbage disposal in the large side, and the dishwasher on that side. It's deep enough to be able to wash big pots. It's gotten a big rough around the drain but I cook a lot with cast iron and I don't baby the sink whatsover. If I had it to do over I would get another one, but in black or grey....See MoreWater Creations Stainless Steel Sink vs Kraus
Comments (6)Like sjhockeyfan, I have a Kraus undermount sink, (KBU14) 30inch. I have had mine in since November 2013 and I'm very happy with it. It is indeed very quiet and the finish is nice. I especially like the stainless grid that comes with it. (a lot of sinks don't come with the grid, you have to buy it separately). The grid is heavy duty and saves wear and tear on sink bottom. My Mom has the Kraus KBU12 for 1.5 years and loves hers too. They are easy to maintain and the quality is very good for the price you pay. We both got ours from Amazon. The packaging that it comes shipped in is over -the -top protection, nice to see a company take the extra time and money to ship their product perfectly protected. We were both impressed. The Kraus was far superior to the sink we could have gotten through our quartz fabricator. Hope this helps you decide. :)...See MoreKraus 32' vs 30' stainless steel sink
Comments (4)Kraus 30", the one you ordered: Kraus 32", the one you didn't order: What size is your sink base? If your sink base is 33", then the 30" sink is just right for it. If it's 36", then it's bigger than necessary and space you might rather use in adjacent cabinets. Mostly what I think is that if you were attracted to the first one for decor reasons, then that is what you should do. I agree that 30" vs 32" is probably not critical. It may have been me that said that the 32", which I have and love, doesn't drain as well as it might, but that is in comparison to my old sink which had a steeper slope. That slope made me crazy because the Kitchen Aid Mixer bowl wouldn't stand up on that slope and dumped the bowl over every time I used it. The Kraus comes with a sink grid which would negate the falling over factor, but in any case the bottom isn't sloped so steeply that it would be a problem. I liked the steeper slope for more vigorous drainage, but the shallower slope of the the 32" Kraus drains just fine, just not so - vigorously....See MoreStainless Steel Blanco sink vs. Luxart
Comments (4)There is no qualitative difference between the sinks. Both are made in China from 18/8 stainless. Many folks still think that Blanco, a German company, makes its own stainless sinks in Germany -- hence the high German prices. It doesn't. Most of the stainless sinks sold by Blanco in North America are manufactured in China by Yingao Kitchen Utensils Co., Ltd., New Star Hi Tech Enterprises Co., Ltd. and Binoya Metal Products Co., Ltd. which also makes stainless sink accessories for Elkay. Both of these are ISO-9000 manufacturers with solid international reputations. We know of no Blanco stainless sink made in Germany, or even in Europe. Luxart, Hajoca's in-house brand, is an equally good 18/8 stainless sink for about 25-30% less because you are not paying a premium for the Blanco name on the Chinese sink. Luxart sinks re also made in China (or maybe Taiwan). Unfortunately, I can't remember right now which Asian factories make them, but I do recall that they also have solid international reputations and ISO-9000 certification. Luxart sinks are priced like Chinese sinks, not like European sinks. Hajoca is the largest privately owned wholesale distributor of plumbing and heating products in the United States,. It stands solidly behind its in house brands. We have never had an issue with a Luxart sink (or faucet either), but if we did, I have no doubt Hajoca would take care of it. As long as the thickness of the steel is the same (18 ga. at least, 16 ga. is better) go for the lowest price. It's the better deal....See MoreRyan Tahoe
