Didn't watch but was rooting for local star, Benecio Bryant.

I am happy for Kodi too, but I'm not sure that he can carry a Las Vegas show. I was also surprised that the Detroit Choir made it as far as they did and surprised that the Indian dance group was eliminated. I really thought they were going to win it. They are so good and would be great in a Vegas show.

I loved the boy who played violin and when it came down to him and the choir, I thought for sure he'd get the nod, so that was another surprise.

All of the final acts have had terrific exposure and I imagine they will receive various offers. Even though they can't all win, I hope to see/hear some of them performing in the future whether that's on tv, thru a recording contract or some other venue.

It's going to be a long winter waiting for AGT 2020!

Benecio Bryant won 2nd place in Germany's 2017 The Voice Kids. I really liked him, but felt he'd had exposure. Emanne Beasha, the opera singer, was my favorite to win it ALL. She was extremely talented. The Indian dance troupe was fascinating to watch. Overall, it was a GREAT season! Loved it!

The Vegas show is Nov. 07-11, and the 4 runners up will also be on that show, Kodi Lee will headline it, of course. And I think it will be just fine. He's probably capable of more than we've seen so far. And I'm sure the show will be structured to his abilities if need be. I have no idea if they get paid for those shows or not. I would think the opportunity alone would be pretty good 'payment'!

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but when Benecio Bryant auditioned, I thought he was a girl. It wasn't until one of the judges, I think, referred to him as 'he' in a later show, that I realized my mistake. He is very good, and has already had a number of opportunities.

Yes, a long winter waiting for AGT 2020! I wish I could get interested in some of the other talent shows, 'American Idol', The Voice', etc., but they just don't hold my interest. At all.

I've seen that it is scheduled for November 7-10, and it was confusing because more than one article that I saw said, "a three-day show November 7-10."

I just checked the hotel's website, and it does show that the AGT show is scheduled for two performances (2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) from Thursday, November 7 through and including Sunday, November 10. Tickets start at $59, plus taxes and fees.

Kodi Lee will headline the show, which will also include the Detroit Youth Choir, V Unbeatable, Tyler Butler-Figueroa, and Ryan Niemiller.

I didn't know those details about the show; thank you both for the clarifications. Given that additional info, I agree that Kodi will be just fine. I thought the winner headlined a show solo and that their appearances took place over a period of several weeks.

I'm also glad to see that the other acts will appear as well.

I think I saw something somewhere about the top 5 acts also being taken on a tour, will have to see what I can find out about that, or if I'm imagining things.

I could have sworn that years ago, back closer to the first several seasons of the show, that the Las Vegas show lasted a full week, but I can't find anything now that supports that thought. And virtually all Las Vegas shows - even those with big-name A-list stars - have opening acts.

It's interesting that Tyler Butler-Figueroa will be in the Las Vegas show instead of Voices of Service.

I could have sworn that in years past, the finalists went on tour (as they do on Dancing With the Stars) but I haven't found anything on that, either.

I don't think I've watched the show in a few years. Just the odd part here and there. Every year, "You're the best audition the show has ever had!" is said at least once. The sappy story before the audition to get the viewers to vote later on........... And there are some groups that perform while very good, I would never pay to see.

Always happy for the eventual winner though.

The Detroit Youth Choir today was awarded a $1,000,000. endowment from Detroit business leaders and foundations. I thought they were really good as well as the choir from Africa.

I read somewhere that the winner gets $20,000 a year for 40 years. Kodi will be hard pressed to buy a grand piano in every color from his winnings unless he waits a number of years. I think even one grand piano would cost much more than $20,000. He'll probably make some appearances after winning AGT but I don't see his appeal as long standing. I think he's exceptional considering his disabilities, but I wouldn't pay to see him. I think that others had more talent than Kodi, but Kodi had his his story too. I think he got a lot of sympathy votes.

Not a popular opinion, I'm sure, but I feel the same way. I also think that Ryan Niemiller got a lot of sympathy votes. I thought Ryan's first performance/audition was really funny, but I thought his performance in the finals relied too heavily on his "disabilities." If you're funny, you're funny no matter what you look like. Yes, you can incorporate jokes about any condition you may have, but his final performance was, to me, somewhat forced. There were others who, in my opinion, should have been in the final five instead of Ryan.

By the way, when Kodi sang You Are The Reason in the semi-finals, I had never before heard the song, and when he first started singing, I thought it sounded like it could be an Ed Sheeran song. As soon as the show was over, I did a search, and found out the song is by Calum Scott -- he apparently sang it on Britain's Got Talent. Anyway, I do like Calum's version better, and I bought it and listen to it a lot. Kodi, to his credit, did use the same arrangement.

Lindsey, I didn't do the math on the total amount before posting. I just took the word of whoever wrote the article that it was correct. I'm glad that I'm not the only only one who thinks the same as I do about the sympathy vote. I also agree with you about Ryan Niemiller. He was OK, but far from what I consider really funny. I think that a lot of acts get to the final rounds by getting the sympathy or cute vote. Too many kids have won the title as far as I'm concerned, hence the reference to "the cute vote".

That show has got to rake in the $$... and to hand out the winner's "million" in small increments is just ridiculous. Fork over the dough! I saw the guy who won American Ninja Warriors on Ellen and he got his million - minus $400k he said would be taken in taxes.

I think some of them get real Vegas shows - like the ventriloquist Terry something... and I believe the magician who won last year had/has a show.

I'd love it if a bunch of them went on tour - I'd definitely buy a ticket to that show.

Share_oh, the contestant has a choice of how they receive the prize, they can chose the 40 year pay out, or chose an immediate lump sum. But the lump sum isn't the full million. "The $1 million is "payable in a financial annuity over forty years" or in a lump sum of the "present cash value of such annuity." (Quote from an AGT website, this blurb is also in fine print on the screen at the end of the show. I have no idea what the taxes are on that much money, but I'm sure it's a LOT!

"Sympathy votes"? Maybe. "Encouraging votes" would be a better term, I think. Kodi Lee is incredibly gifted in spite of his handicaps, whether one likes his style of music or not. And Ryan Niemiller has an admirable attitude, whether or not all his jokes are hilariously funny. They are both inspirations.
