Small space decorating dilemma.
Comments (56)I like what judrand05 said. I'll add one caveat to the Philips Hue lights, the bulbs only go up to 800 Lumens. For larger rooms, 1000+ Lumens is better if you use fewer bulbs. Also, a ceiling light would typically create more light. I'd still try them, they are easy to return if they don't work for you. When my Uncle re-did their whole kitchen area they installed rows of high-intensity white LED lights on the ceiling. As a result, their house is as bright as day during the night. My aunt claims it helps her read at night as her eyesight is not as good. Been jealous of that light setup ever since :). Most apartments/houses I've seen are underlit....See MoreSmall space decor
Comments (9)Alright, so you have a little ways to go in pulling this one together, but the rug, TV stand & basic sofa/loveseat work. Not to overwhelm, but here are a few suggestions: I would either paint the existing cocktail table the turquoise in your rug or a taupe color. You could also consider a new one like a sliding top chest that could house the furniture covers when guests are over. It looks like your window casing doesn't allow for inside mount of the blind, so a simple wood blind or natural colored Roman shade measured correctly for the window would look nice. The table lamp needs to be somewhat larger & the ceiling fan would match better in more of a wrought iron style with caged Edison bulbs. I would consider painting the bump out of the TV wall a slightly darker color than the rest of your walls. I would also try to stay away from the dated art work that's framed, matted & glassed in. You could update with earthy, more weathered framed art, a collage of old empty picture frames of different colors & sizes, metal plaques, & hung baskets. Last, but not least I would invest in some patterned & textured down filled pillows that hold their shape & look thicker. It's amazing how quality pillows can take the rooms look up a knotch....See MoreAdvice on how to decorate/design space

Comments (1)Curtains, floor to almost ceiling. What goes between the windows depends on what else goes in the room. Perhaps a small piece of art, perhaps nothing. Can't know till after the window treatments are up....See MoreRelated Professionals
