I'm bumping this back up because I've been thinking about scaling back. We are reno'd out after our kitchen, and now bogged down with painting nearly every room in the house. We also have to take out some carpet and install hardwood. The thing I hate the most is the sink right across from the toilet. We do use the bathroom at the same time, but there is barely enough room for toilet and sink use simultaneously. Plus, I hate having a mirror right across from the toilet. So, I'm thinking of keeping the vanity as a single vanity, 48", but moving the sink closer to the shower. Then we'd put tall cabinets across from the toilet for towels, toiletries, etc., which we currently keep out in the hall closet. Though I still worry about the huge size discrepancy between the bedroom and bathroom.

@Kerry - the bedspread - started with a grey checkered one and replaced with a white one with grey border. planning on replacing with another one - still white but a bit more grey throughout (vs just the border). I wasn't sure if you were thinking the white one was too white (when you commented to post with the new bed spread).

I would prefer it in the family room to the foyer. I wouldn't like my bedroom entrance in the foyer, and I wouldn't want to walk out of the main part of the house everytime I needed to go in my bedroom. My only hesitation would be how it affects furniture placement in the family room. Well, you could add reach-in closets to the nook between the walk-in and the far wall. On the wall shared with the family room. In addition you could also move the doorway for the closet into the hall, directly across from the ensuite door, and close up the existing door. That way you gain a whole extra wall for storage. And the closet will be easily accessible from the the ensuite and the bedroom and the entrance (nice for when you are putting away laundry, save you some steps). Get a more logical closet system and you'll have a nice space there.

Agree with Cpartist. Also, I find that having too big of a master bedroom is a waste. Ours is huge and we never use our “sitting” area up there. It’s a waste of sq footage IMO. What would you use the extra space for?
