My beauty berry was loaded last year, and it seems to be doing a repeat this season. I have two, the other is a bit older and growing in a not so ideal place but still happy. It produces berries, but not as heavily.

Did someone here post a recipe for beauty berry jelly? I remember reading it and thought about sharing it with my jelly making neighbor. Apparently I didn't save the recipe. Maybe I read it somewhere else online? In a way I hate to have her strip the shrub of all those gorgeous berries as I'd think it would take a lot to make some jelly.

Some cobs they ate pretty well completely, but some only partly, and some weren't ripe yet.

But there were only a few stalks. A few years ago, there was quite a lot of corn, and they pulled off many cobs, took a bite or two, then left that one and pulled down another. I think that I took quite a few to church, saying to husk the ears, cut off the chewed part and a little bit outside that area, and the rest, that had been covered by husk, was edible ...

... and that they'd be stewing them, anyway, so not to get into too large a stew about there being a bit of depredation by coons.

Finally, joe pye weed. I've had 3 stalks for a few years now, thanks to a volunteer. But this year, they spread considerably and I have a nice little row of them. I love joe pye weed. I planted it in my yard when I lived in Baltimore. So happy to have it here.
