Beautiful pictures, everyone!

My dad sometimes staged photos, with either humorous or dramatic scenarios. I think this must be one of those. The man at the piano is Dick Dubè, a family friend ever since my mother was a teenager (her first boyfriend), and my first piano teacher. I don't know who the woman isÂI think maybe the wife of one of my father's cousinsÂbut she plays her part well. One too many (or maybe three too many) drinks . . .

PS: I remember that white piano well. I started piano lessons on it when I was six.

We've had lots of does and fawns coming to the feeder lately, and we have our "animal cam" set up with a motion sensor to see our visitors day and night. We've taken a liking to this little fawn. One ear folds forward, and the other ear folds backward.

Aw, she's sweet!

Vicki, I'll be happy to share my thistles with you. We neglected to mow or weed-whack a section of the property, and it's covered with 6' tall, 4' wide thistle plants, all producing dandelion-like seeds that are blowing all over the place. Oy!

Kathy, I wish the school's garden labeled some of those beautiful roses.

The building is Government House, it's where the Lieutenant Governor lives, he is the Queen's representative in Newfoundland. It's downtown and the grounds are open to the public, I like to walk around and take pics.

Thistle is so pretty---but it's actually illegal here. Landowners MUST eradicate it or risk being fined. Go figure...

They did Susan....when the rose garden was moved (recently) following a renovation on campus, every one of the roses was labeled. But, someone (a real dolt obviously) pulled up and switched around the stakes in front of all the plants that had all the information (including type) inscribed on it. The stakes are supposed to be relocated to the proper plant whenever the gardeners find the time to undo what someone thought would be a "cute" prank. So, if your looking at a beautiful "Double Delight" according to the stake...chances are its not a "Double Delight"......

Susan, is that a Mantis Tiller? I have one and love it. I've had mine for about 15 years. Before that I rented one that nearly beat me up as I was trying to use it.

Kat ~ I have no words....your pictures are always so beautiful. I sure would like to be sitting on that bench reading the newspaper.

Vicki ~ When we lived next door to a 35 acre pasture I saw so many of those. It was difficult to keep them off our property. I thought they were pretty, but they certainly aggressive.

Ewwwwww, I'd love one of those pears.

They're Barlett pears, my favorite, and are grown on a 6 FT. dwarf tree. We always get a ton. I make pear butter, like apple butter, with them when we have eaten our fill of fresh ones. Also make pear tarts.

Susan, that's a really funny picture. Her dress is falling off and her glass is empty! Very good!

Those pears are wonderful, but I know you can only eat so many. Can they be frozen in syrup?

Clare, you can also make pear sauce (like apple sauce) with or without cinnamon, and with a small shot of lemon juice to help it retain it's normal color! It is WONDERFUL with pork and also with T-giving and Christmas turkey!!

One day my GD and i were leaving her apt and we saw this standing by the dumpster,so we stopped and got it.Can you believe someone threw it away,it's just like brand new.

Obviously whoever put the doll by the dumpster knew it was too nice to put IN the dumpster. They were hoping someone would come along and pick it up, and YOU did! Very good.

Thanks to everyone for identifying the thistle. I had no idea what it was. It was near a lake probably about 4000 feet about sea level. Strictly a guess on that though. At the top, it was 6032 feet above sea level.

I was with Vicki when she took the picture among the other "400"!!!!! It was a race between her and Heather, our cousin who could get the best shot with their new lens!!!!

Montana is one beautiful state...if it wasn't for all the snow, this "Nevada desert rat" could live there!
