Comments (2)Thanks Fairyprincess We live in Canada, on Vancouver Island, the most moderate climate in the country,, its called the west coast, or as many will joke--the "wet coast"--lol Solar is not really in my budget, nor very practiscibale in this climate "too much cloud and too much rain." And as I have an acre of forest and rhodos, some Douglas Firs as high as 120 feet, not too much sun. but beautiful nonetheless. A paridise in the summer heat. but solar, no, not likely. Cant bring myself to cut down those majestic giants. no way Unlike some people I burn firewood, cause its renewable, and a natural thing to do. fires in nature have been in exestince for eons. I`m really hoping that puting the grates in the floor will greatly improve the heat rising to our living room, and make the rec room not so stiffling!! Should tell you , that even though it is more expensive, we do burn bio=fuel. about a $1.12 per litre. its a 20/80mix Well, there is no easy solution to this, just have to think it out some more, not in a hurry, (this old boiler has served us well for many years) its forty years old....See MoreI'm back! Comments (20)Jpmom, you home is gorgeous already! The 12" crown will look perfect with the already tall baseboards. Then add all the other woodwork in, the fireplace mantle, wainscoting, and pillars in the dining room. So pretty! My first reaction was to continue the white painted woodwork. It seems naturally connected to that bar wall from the the LR and DR with the baseboards and wainscoting. Oh and I also love that transom window above the other doorway too! My other thought was that I know from experience how the backsplash tile can completely change colors due to the lighting and what is directly next to it. I would want the two areas in the kitchen with the backsplash to look related. It may look completely different with one being next a window with white cabs and dark counters verses the other being in low natural light with black cabs and white Quartz. I'd definitely wait to decide on what to do with the bar area until the rest of the kitchen is painted white as Romy suggested. I do think it might look great either way, but I'm just one who needs to see it in real life before committing. I am sure either way it is gonna be stunning! ETA.... Could you possibly find a remnant of the Volga blue to fit the bar top if you went with white cabs on the bar? Or possibly just cut the granite and add a dark walnut type wood butcherblock section that reads dark above the wine fridge? Think romy's dark wood top next to the granite? Just a thought....:-)...See MoreI can't make a decision please help
Comments (2)I like the first one but...I personally would stay away from a fabric shade in the kitchen. I take my light shade down periodically and wash it, but it is pretty dusty here....See MoreMy bathroom redo - need help making final decisions!!
Comments (23)Hi all, Thanks for the replies! I went to order the darker hex and lo and behold it’s out of stock across the country till late February. Start date is January. So bummed! Ordered a sample of the lighter stuff but not feeling crazy about it. I had my heart set on hex, but should I just do a dark gray rectangle tile? As for the vanity, yes it is not my first choice. I have looked at everything out there including pedestals. I am picky! I was about to have one custom made, but thought this is a bathroom, how much do I want to spend on a room I spend the least amount of time in? So, now I’m just not sure....See Morebac717
