Black fridge, SS oven, off-white cabinets?
Comments (4)Off-white is more forgiving than white and black appliances are often used because some people hate stainless...check the FKB if you need some examples. Your counter top choice will make a big difference in how it looks. If everything is white, probably not so good. Soapstone? Just right. If it makes you feel any better, I remodeled with white white cabinets and kept my old black oven/microwave tower. Good oven, looks...well, it's hard for me to say because I'm so used to it. As long as your black appliances are standard sizes, don't fret. Recycle 'em. Change later if you hate the look. I also still have my old black fridge. It genuinely does look bad because it's a full depth 33" stubby fridge in a tall skinny counter depth hole. Covered with magnets and papers....See Morewhite or stainless steel appliances in small kitchen?
Comments (24)You folks are all 'amazing' ~ I knew I came to the right place to get help. I thought I should post an image of my kitchen, which I should have done in the first place (but my dishes weren't done) lol. I love both the white and the stainless steel. I took a good look at my kitchen today and noticed that the microwave looks like it has yellowed over a 5 year period. The plastic panel cover on the top part of the dishwasher yellowed. And those plastic strips they put on the frames of the cupboards have also yellowed. Funny, I never noticed that before. I like the white frig with the stainless steel handles too. Thanks everyone. Here is my teensy weeny kitchen....See MoreSwitch from white to stainless steel appliances in small rental?
Comments (29)Thank you all for your comments. hollybar, I wanted to powder coat the stove because I think a mint green stove would look cute in a 1950s kitchen, and because it's not very expensive. I hope that my current tenants (who have lived there for less than a month) enjoy living in the house and stay for several years. My husband wasn't very excited about mint green, and it sounds like nobody here is either, so I'll probably stick with the more universally appealing white. I hadn't considered burn marks, but the tables were a DIY project meant to last 5-10 years until we get around to changing the window and adding cabinets on that side of the kitchen. The hickory for the butcher block tops only cost $50, and hopefully I can turn them over or plane them between tenants if they are burnt. I agree with you that table height looks wrong next to the window, but it's done now and there is no way my husband could be prevailed upon to change it!...See MoreGE Cafe matte white or black fridge next to stainless steel wall oven
Comments (12)We ended up delaying our project, but plan to get two individual wall units (oven and microwave) in matte white and stack them. It's quite a bit more pricey, but it also seems the individual units have better features than the combo. We're also beginning to lean more towards cabinets that have a little color, maybe green or blue. Cabinets that aren't white/grey will probably enhance the look of the matte white finish (we got the Fridge and Dishwasher in matte white already)....See Morechiflipper
