There is an old thread in the Weed forum about getting rid of bindweed. Essentially, it said to make a solution of Roundup, place it in a jar, then stuff the growing end of a bindweed plant into it (as much foliage as the container will hold). Anchor the jar in place so it doesn't tip over, and cover to protect it from rain. Eventually the herbicide will do its work. I don't have a bindweed problem, so haven't had to resort to this, but it was supposed to be effective.

Yes, it's chickweed. Get rid of it by mowing the lawn shorter and more regularly so the chickweed can't flower. Leave the mowings on the ground. Chickweed will not grow in a dense healthy lawn but needs bare soil to germinate.

floral, Asclepias syriaca can be a prolific spreader; the other varieties are much better behaved. Ed......they're still kicking. In the 2nd pick, it's raining. Water makes them scatter. I posted in the Garden Clinic...per Julias suggestion. I'm told they're pollen beetles. They don't seem to be causing any damage to the foliage....just really ugly! I can dump them out of the flower blossoms and throw them away....seems to be the most organic means to their "end".
