Help me pick an exterior color please! So hard...!

Hi,
Im awful at picking colors and seeing shades and undertones. I love the pics of this house and have tried to contact and ask for the color with no luck. Does anyone have a suggestion of what color this might be similar to? In Benjamin Moore colors if possible. I went and picked about 6 swatches from the store and then brought them home and realized Im not even close lol. First pic is different and the second and third are the same house/color but I like both so help finding either color would be great. Last pic is my house and I hate the green! So Im looking for a color to replace the green, the trim will all be the dark color of the top windows and the orange brick I don't like so I was thinking of painting that a grey color from the stone area.

Comments (39)It is funny, but I did not change the garage door color. I used MS Paint and it did weird things to the roof too. Looking at it here, it seems like I made the top part brown.... I'd either do the garage door with the 2 light tones or keep it all white. I'd paint it last to see how it looks white first with the new house color. When I was working on the mock up, the lavender was either too strong or too light. I went with too light because the next step up was garish. Our lavender is sometimes very subtle, but when you see the nearby white, you realize it is not white too. It also looks different as the light changes throughout the day. I'll try to take an exterior pic of our house tomorrow. The landscaping needs a major trim, but the blooming trees out front are at their best. I work from my office Thurs-Sun and from home Mon-Wed (much fewer hours), so can do some work on them in the a.m. and take a neater photo ;) Although, it sounds like it is raining outside at the moment......See MoreHelp me pick my exterior color - last time. Comments (19)busybee3, the problem with the khaki brown is that the color changes depending on the light. It can be a beautiful beige brown or it can be a pinky, washed out mess. The shutters are going to be changed to black board and batten shutters to match the carriage door look of the garage doors. My light fixtures are a similar style in black. les917, I would agree to make the bays beige but I'm afraid it will make the house too dark if I paint it the darker color. I'm also a little afraid of putting black shutter on the darker color. I was doing it on the khaki brown to try and bring some weight to the siding color but I am afraid it might be too severe with the darker siding. bluebird, that is definitely a version of my house. Comments (16)Thanks everyone for the great tips. I'll drop the red trim idea. FWIW, here's an old picture before we repainted (pardon the car in the front, we'd just bought a Prius. Matches the trim of the house, lol). FWIW, I hated that bright red trim, though at Xmas the door looked pretty with a wreath. Brown Dog thanks for all the tips. (on the mock up, I ran out of time. I actually am supposed to be doing something else right now, now getting sucked into Houzz! ;) Thanks for the point of all the design elements fitting together. That's good advice. BTW, yes my gardening style is "controlled chaos." In that shot, the sweet peas were running a muck. ;) Another question: I am keeping these original windows but in the back, adding Marvin Ultimate (wood interior, alum exterior). The windows will be trimmed out to match the front. Both of these are from the far right on the blue family chart
Paint poster boards edge to edge with no white showing and put them against your house. Look at them at different times of the day to see how the light reacts to the colors.
