Forgot to answer the question. I like peanut butter just about any way I can get it. I mostly eat it with a banana or apple and cheese though. You all are making me crave it with celery though. I prefer natural with no sweeteners or extra oil. Crunchy is my favourite.

Weird as it sounds, I bought about 18 pounds of JIF No Sugar Added peanut butter on Amazon back in March. The were 8 jars each weighing about 2.5 pounds, It was a very good price, and I planned to donate most of it to our local food pantry. But for some reason they couldn't ship it to my home address, so I had them ship it to my parent's independent living apartment in a senior facility. Just forgot to tell my mother I was doing that. The box was so heavy that the staff carried it up to my mother's apartment and told her not to lift it. When she got it opened she went beserk, not understanding why Amazon had sent her 18 pounds of peanut butter! So she began giving it away to other residents, my brothers, and just about anyone who stopped by to visit. We did end up having a good laugh once I explained what happened. Anyhow, it's great peanut butter and makes the best peanut butter cookies. I think the lack of added sugar makes a big difference in the cookies. I managed to save 2 jars after my mother's big giveaway. Doesn't match the recall code, but I'm chucking it out anyhow!

I have always loved peanut butter and still do. It is a staple in my pantry and in our diet. But, only the kind without shortening and sugar added to it. Peanut butter has culinary uses that go beyond just with bread. A spoonful of it can add a nice touch to something like a gumbo,, and it is a pretty good stand in for tahini. I love it just as it is, as long as it is just peanut butter with nothing added. Matter of fact, I just had a piece of toasty bread with natural peanut butter for breakfast minutes ago. I make nice whole grain waffles and I prefer peanut butter over butter with some old fashion black strap molasses on it. I grew up with having peanut butter on pancakes and waffles. Dont do pancakes anymore and my waffles are full of substance and nutrition. When we travel we almost always bring a peanut butter sandwich because it is so good, needs no special care and is so easy to pack. Hubs likes sliced habenaros on his. Peanut butter is a valuable staple in my house and I never get tired of it. I pour off the oil on top of the jar and put that aside for some other use. You have to be careful, though, peanut butter is high in calories and it can fool you. But, about jelly... can take it or leave it. One small jar may last a couple of years for us. So, when I do buy it I look for something of quality and buy only a small bit. Mostly it delivers sweet with a touch of fruity something.

I like peanuts. I like them included in a recipe or chopped/ground in a sauce, usually something Asian but I am otherwise like Lars. I do not put peanut butter on anything I intend to eat. I've not even used it on a mousetrap - I've never had a mouse (knocking on wood here). DH would eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day for a while. He would make his own. They didn't require refrigeration and he could put one in a zip lock with a bottle of water into one of his engineers vest pockets and had something to eat during his day. Now that he's retired though, he rarely seems to want one. I do like peanut butter cookies. It's a shame I'm not much of a cookie maker. Something about fooling with all those little individual 'thingies' and I would much rather bake a cake or pie. I'd read where someone in training for something strenuous had eaten a few spoonfuls of peanut butter from the jar daily, gaining the weight they wanted. Wanting to gain just a little, I bought a jar a tried it. I lasted about 1 day and couldn't handle the mouth/throat feel.
