btw, the host of the podcast, Dan Pashman, says the right way to make a PB & J is to put a thin layer of jelly on each slice of bread and then carefully layer peanut butter over the jelly on one side. He said the jelly ”insulation” keepd the peanut butter from sticking to the roof of your mouth.

Grape. Concord Grape. If I feel fancy, strawberry. But grape is the go to. On squishy white bread.

I prefer honey with PB but I do like jam as well. My husband buys Bonne Maman and I just eat whatever kind he has in the house. I prefer strawberry.

I see that Costco is now carrying Bonne Maman in our area but it is in 750 ml. jars. LOL, I don’t think it would taste as good out of the big jars. Those little jars are so cute.

My husband likes variety so I don’t think he would buy a big jar.

I also like a locally made Saskatoon berry jam.

Oh, and I like a lot of butter with any PB and jam sandwich.

For me, strawberry jam is the best with peanut butter, especially on a toasted English muffin. I prefer them open faced, peanut butter spread first, then jam on the top. My favorite strawberry jam is Bonne Maman strawberry preserves. I soak the labels off, keep the jars with their cheerful lids and use them for all sorts of things.

I despise PBJ. I love peanut butter and banana!!! And PBJ reminds me of elementary school. Some idiot poked holes in my younger sister's sandwich. It didn't go well. For them. I'm a lot older.

I think fried Peanut Butter and 'nana sandwiches were Elvis's favorite!

Peanut Butter and marmalade sandwiches are the combination that I like. Unless of course it's peanut butter and banana.

I’ve had several jellies, jams, preserves, fruit spreads on the PB. I like apple. strawberry, raspberry, four-fruit, even peach is not bad. Blackberry is okay, blueberry not so much. I prefer those with no added sugar, etc, just fruit and maybe pectin, because gee, they are fruit, they are already sweet.

My quirk is, like roxsol, butter the bread/English muffin before adding the PB.

I like PB and banana, had it this morning on whole grain English muffin, but I’ve never had it fried!

DH will take one fishing occasionally. He likes his bread plain white and untoasted. So I spread peanut butter on both sides and the jam in the middle hoping it prevents the sogginess. He likes grape or strawberry.

Wildchild, I've tried that method but it seems the jelly acts as a lubricant between the peanut butter on each side and the two pieces of bread with pnut butter slide apart instead of sticking. Does he find that happens?

My favorites are Skippy crunchy with raspberry, peach or marmalade. Unfortunatly it's getting hard to find crunchy Skippy in the stores around here. I can buy them online but I haven't in a while.

Raspberry jam....only. Strawberry comes in a very, very distant second.

Olychick No. Maybe it's the amount of PB. I put half of what I would normally spread on one side on each side. About a tablespoon on each side.

I do not care for PB with jelly or anything else if on bread or Eng muffin.

Roasted peanuts are a healthful snack.

I use peanut butter for my mouse traps, but can't think of anything else I'd use it for. I do have peanuts I'll eat along with assorted fruits and breads at the same time and blend my own as I chew. Most disgusting thing to me is Peanut butter and chocolate..

When I have a peanut butter sandwich, I prefer it made with cream cheese-yum. Growing up we had PB and butter on white bread. If I want a jelly-it is apple. I know that I am weird.

Nearby gift store full of locally made stuff has lime marmalade which, for me, is just a bit of heaven on earth...and with PB, wonderful!

Peanut butter sandwich with a bit of sugar sprinkled inside is a favorite since childhood.

Someone gave a jar of homemade apple butter to me last year. Lovely on a peanut butter sandwich. Sometimes jelly or jam, whatever flavor I may have on-hand.

A jar + spoon doesn't last long ... in the past ... I had to considerably cut back on all of it several years ago due to recurrent calcium/oxalate kidney stones. Peanut butter is high in oxalates.

Creamy only, no crunchy!

Any jam, preserves, or fresh fruit like apple, grapes, or banana, really. Plum is probably my favorite, for everything that I use preserves for.

@User - I was happy to see someone say honey! That was a childhood staple; I don't have it often but I think of it fondly. Strawberry preserves are another favorite, Bonne Maman my usual brand when there's no homemade, so your first paragraph resonated with me.

One thing about peanut butter though, I really don't like it as a sandwich. Gotta be open-faced. It's a strong preference.

My favorite is peanut butter spread on slices of apple. With bread, i like peanut butter with seedless raspberry jam. Trappist if I can find it.

An easy treat I've made often is peanut butter mixed with maple syrup and eaten as a dip with mini pretzels.

And peanut butter with cheese crackers (like Cheez-Its or Goldfish) is really good too, IMPO.

My favorite ... peach jam with a layer of raspberry preserves, goes wonderfully with peanut butter, either smooth or crunchy. mmmmm!

i don’t normally use preserves or jam for much other than glazing a fruit tart but we’ve had Costco size jars of Bonne Mamman 4 fruit preserves recently and that stuff is ever so delicious! more often on yogurt than with PB for me.

Bonne Maman raspberry preserves for me, every morning. Second choice would be their blackberry preserves and last but not least, my blueberry preserves when I'm able to make it.

Huh? I prefer Bonne Maman and buy nothing else, but we've never purchased it at Costco. The only berry I like is strawberry so we get that and all the other likely suspects - cherry, apricot, red and yellow plum, peach and mango peach. Rotated in no particular order.

Bonne Maman for me -- Grandmother loyalty. <wink> It's $5 a jar at local chain grocers. Is it on offer for less at Costco? I used to save the jars for DGS when he had beehives.

Bonne Maman for me as well. But I stick to the raspberry, raspberry-apricot or just the apricot.

And I have quite the collection of BM jars :-) I recycle to family members in hopes they come back filled with homemade mustard or barbeque sauce! And sometimes they go out with homemade jams or marmalade from my end.

Exactly, if not cheaper. My husband is just a grab and go shopper and Bonne Maman is available everywhere. I think the jars are a huge selling point (they’re so cute) and the wide mouth, straight sided shape makes it easy to get the jam out and apparently a lot of people repurpose them.

I just asked my husband what his favourite jam is. After his initial ”What is she up to? “ look on his face, he said his late mother’s homemade jam, then Empress Jam but he didn’t like their packaging as it tends to come in economy size pails, then local Hutterite made jam but it’s a pain to get and then Bonne Maman because it’s easy to get out of the jar and it’s available almost everywhere, not the best but has a pretty decent flavour.

And I have quite the collection of BM jars :-)

Peanut butter and jam or jelly is good all by itself too. I've been known to stir them together and eat with a spoon 😋

PB and my crabapple jelly is my favorite. My younger DS grew up eating PB and honey, very good and very sweet. I make a lot of jam and jelly for my church fair and I had one customer who liked PB with my Garlic Jelly. Certainly doesn't appeal to me.

@LindainCT That does sound a little odd. What other uses do you have for your Garlic Jelly? I'm assuming no sugar in it? How do you make it; do you have a recipe you would share?

I have always loved peanut butter and still do. It is a staple in my pantry and in our diet. But, only the kind without shortening and sugar added to it.

Peanut butter has culinary uses that go beyond just with bread. A spoonful of it can add a nice touch to something like a gumbo,, and it is a pretty good stand in for tahini.

I love it just as it is, as long as it is just peanut butter with nothing added. Matter of fact, I just had a piece of toasty bread with natural peanut butter for breakfast minutes ago.

I make nice whole grain waffles and I prefer peanut butter over butter with some old fashion black strap molasses on it. I grew up with having peanut butter on pancakes and waffles. Dont do pancakes anymore and my waffles are full of substance and nutrition.

When we travel we almost always bring a peanut butter sandwich because it is so good, needs no special care and is so easy to pack. Hubs likes sliced habenaros on his.

Peanut butter is a valuable staple in my house and I never get tired of it. I pour off the oil on top of the jar and put that aside for some other use. You have to be careful, though, peanut butter is high in calories and it can fool you.

But, about jelly... can take it or leave it. One small jar may last a couple of years for us. So, when I do buy it I look for something of quality and buy only a small bit. Mostly it delivers sweet with a touch of fruity something.

I like almond butter with orange marmalade or honey for breakfast.
