KA mixer better way to make my bread?
Comments (35)We bought this built-n Bosch mixer instead of the counter model. There is no danger of it walking away anywhere no matter how unbalanced a load you end up with. It was risky because the concept models are discontinued but not having to give up any counter or cabinet space for a bulky drive unit made it worthwhile. So far we are happy with it. It serves as a food processor (not a great one, it's on the small side and it doesn't autopulse like my old Braun multisystem, but it's okay) a slicer/grater/Julienner, a mixer, including a very heavy duty all-steel dough hook, a blender (superb performance out of that), and a stone grain mill. The pulser on the thing is kind of awkward, requiring you to twist the spring loaded knob to the left, and it only pulses to high speed, which can get messy when you are dealing with liquids, but overall, it works out great and saves me a lot of room in the cabinets. Again, this is discontinued and probably more for the appliance geek, but since you are posting on here all the time, asolo, I am thinking you ought to at least know about it....See MoreWord Game: Words From A Word PART 2

Comments (12)You can also save an entire thread to your computer. So for "Favorite Chicken Recipes Redux" right-click on the title. Then on the window that comes up click "Save Target As". You'll see a window with "Save In" at the top. You can pick a file you already have on your computer (like "Recipes") or create a new file (like "Cooking Forum"). At the bottom of that window you'll see "File Name" and then "msg122046474409". Select that and type in the name you want to give it, like "Favorite Chicken Recipes." Below that you'll see "Save as Type." Be sure it says HTML Document. Then click "Save" and the entire thread with all the recipes is saved on your computer. You can open it and read it and it will look just like it did on this forum. This sounds more complicated than it is. Once you've done it you'll see it's easy. It's a good way to save "rich" threads with a lot of information or recipes you would like to keep. You can still cut-and-paste from that thread later if you try a recipe and want it elsewhere for your regular recipe files. Then if the thread drops off the Cooking Forum, it doesn't matter. You have the entire thing. Carol...See MoreWords, Words, Words...
Comments (49)Wood - Glad you are enjoying the wonderful "Child/Forest" book. My library has the prettiest edition of this, and I donated the other two in the trilogy, but have a strong feeling they went into the FoL book sale instead of on the shelves which I had intended to make up the trilogy for other people. As for the adding of the "-ie" sound to words in English, that is quite common even now. "Brekkies" - breakfast "Sarnies" - sandwiches "Prezzies" - presents/gifts Also, there used to be a penchant for reducing some names to "-az" such as: Sharon --> Shaz or Shazzer Barry --> Baz or Bazzer Des --> Dezzie This might just be my group of friends though... We had a mixed bunch (social class speaking) and I think this shortening was a lower class trend... I could be mistaken as it may vary in other regions......See Morewildchild2x2
