Comments (51)I took a look on Wayfair Closeout rugs and if you spend a little more you can score a much better rug.. These are all available in 9x12 and IMHO would work beautifully. Also keep in mind that a rug under a dining table takes abuse with the crumbs and chairs so it's better to consider something better in quality. I know the first one is dark, but with a black clock on the wall and the industrial barcart, it would look very smart. My personal favorite is the 4th one. The last one looks as though it may look better in a traditional home if you want colorful and classic. All good. https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/the-conestoga-trading-co-hand-tufted-blue-area-rug-cntc4236.html?piid=16370097 https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/wrought-studio-kari-deco-browngray-area-rug-wrsd1454.html?piid=30918717 https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/wrought-studio-kari-deco-bluegray-area-rug-wrsd1453.html https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/red-barrel-studio-hogan-hand-tufted-wool-graygreen-area-rug-rbrs7553.html?piid=22588486 ^ ^ ^ ^ This one is a very good deal https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/meridian-rugmakers-san-juan-hand-tufted-light-blue-area-rug-mrdn2018.html...See MoreAdvice on Historic Row Home Exterior Paint Color Scheme
Comments (7)I addition to painting there are other things you can do to bring back some of the historic character of the buildings. Doors of an appropriate style will add more historic character. The commercial entrance on the blue building needs to be more of a feature. One way to do that is to paint the red door to the right of the entrance the same color as the siding so the eye is not drawn to that area. Kickplates could be added under the windows on building with the purple(ish) door. Since picture windows were on most commercial buildings adding them to these windows would return some of the character of a commercial space. Awnings could be added over some of the windows. See if you can find some historic photos of the buildings to see what was there previously. There might have been dentil molding or corbels on the cornice along the top of the blue building that could be recreated. Signage is another area that can aide in bringing more historic character to a building. Using overhanging signs is appropriate, and also, since the buildings are so close to the street allow people to know who and where a business is. You need to put together a list of things you want to do and then rank them in order of what has to be done, what you really want to do and finally what would be nice to do but is not a priority. If there is a local Historic Preservation/Planning Department they can be an valuable resource for you. Good luck....See MoreI am needing help choosing exterior paint colors for my home.
Comments (1)I have removed all shrubs in the front. The front door is set back and hard to see but same stain as the shutters. And the stone is the same on both sides of the garage. I have no idea of paint colors and was wondering if i should do a trim contrast? The gutters along the house match the shutters as well....See MoreFlo Mangan
