My favorite plants for this year 2014
Comments (4)I have a new house zone 6b and have put in a bunch of perennials, no idea which will really survive. Three i have loved are hummingbird mint, Sweet kate and then a thing I don't know what it's called but here's a pic if I can manage to upload. Comments (10)forgot to mention the others: doves, mockingbirds, grackles-common and boat-tailed, sparrows, painted buntings, blue jays, woodpeckers, yellow throated warbler, phoebe or flycatcher - not sure. yellow rumped warbler, turkey buzzards, crows. ducks flying over - don't know what brand. white ibis, lord and lady cardinal. cormorant flying over..woodstork. Think that's it for today. I love this time of year, too...especially for the birds. Have not seen the robins in a few days now, and the goldfinches flitted on through...only stopped for a very, very short time this year..yesterday I saw two..today nothing. No orioles yet, either, nor cedar waxwings...hoping maybe for this week, tho....it was the first week of March last year....See MoreThis is my favorite cooking week of the year
Comments (16)I can't think of anything more appropriate than brownies. Alice B. Toklas recipe, to be precise. That's more food-friendly than Look Alike Day or Volunteer Recognition Day. Yeah, and Hitler's birthday. Go for the brownies. Which is probably what your kids were hinting for in the first place! Oh, wait, you can celebrate the cuisine of Magnolia Thunderpussy. Way back when, way WAY back, you could order delivery from her place, and the brownies were the biggest sellers, I guess. Comments (19)I don't know about the MMPI - I took that test several times and it does work on me. The first result was that I was too psychotic to be able to walk around - that was when I was 18. From a later test, a psychologist told me that I had an extremely high "F" score, which means that I answer questions differently from most people, meaning that I am hopelessly eccentric. She also said that I was hypervigilant, after I explained to her why I answered the questions the way I did. Anyway, a better test is the Briggs-Myers personality test, which will help identify which career she will like best. It is a preference test, and so it cannot give psychotic results like the MMPI, which I think is a very poorly written test. I do recommend the Briggs-Myers test - it seems to work for most cases. While you are at it, you could also consult an astrologer to see if the timing is right for this type of adventure. I used astrology to determine when I should go back to university to get my second degree, and it worked very well for me. Opportunity does knock twice, despite what people may say. A few years ago, Harvard was recommending that new students spend a year doing apprentice work or other activities before starting college, as many students do not yet know for sure what their passions are. I did not find out until after I already had a B.A. - in the wrong field. However, any college education is beneficial, and education should continue for one's entire life....See Morelaceyvail 6A, WV
