bought a green vanity need help needed picking tile for bathroom
I fell in love with this vanity and mirror and the price was great so I took the plunge and now I'm stuck with the tile colors for the floor and shower. I have satin brass on all of the doors in the house and I would like to do the bathroom with a combo of dark & brass hardware. I love the olive pebble tile for the shower floor and I'm going to do a strip of it running up in the shower. But I feel like the rest of the tile I picked is pretty boring. I'm really into decorative tile but I can't seem to pick something to bring it all together. This is a guest bath and I would love it to have a wow factor. The only thing I have is the vanity/mirror , the rest I haven't bough yet so I am very open to suggestions. Here is my idea board. Thanks in advance!

Comments (11)are you replacing the tub tile at all? or just the scroll piece? another idea is to take the same quartz countertop and have the top portion of your tub surround done in the same. that way both vanities and top of tub all match. doing a solid color would work better here since you'll want to coordinate w/the tile floor. If you did that, take the tile off the wall above the tub and you could do something like this If keeping that tile on the top of tub, then it might be an issue. you may just want to keep the scroll piece under the window. that's up to you. all depends how far you want to go. if you remove the scroll, you could do a little wood shelf across, below the window, for plants or orchids. as for the mirrors w/the lights in them, they're all over. just google 'vanity mirrors w/lights', or vanity mirrors w/medicine cab" . they are a bit pricey though. 600 and up for the very nice ones. Robern medicine cabinets are a well known name. if you want a taller medicine cab on the side, you will have to have the recessed portion of the wall made taller. as for the tiling portion, yes, just the front wall,,,you would paint on the side portion. I really like this look for your room. you don't have to do MOP tile, it was just a suggestion. there are tons of beautiful tiles you could use. If you did more of an ivory or subtle countertop that plays well w/your tile floor, then you could have more options to play w/some tile. The sconces pictured here are also nice, but there are many other types you could use as well. Don't want to bother w/sconces? then ditch your mirror and buy a backlit, or complete edge lit mirror like this one. you could still do your tiling like shown here. These are also very flattering. this countertop is limestone, below, and is more of a neutral, greige color. i would keep your ceiling dark, like you have it,,maybe do the walls a lighter shade...all depends what you pick for the vanity and tile. Comments (15)My opinion will be biased because I have very similar tile in my master we redid 12 years ago. 4" squares on the diagonal for the shower floor and 12" squares on main floor and up the shower walls. Coincidentally we are in process of redoing my kids' bath the past few weeks (it was also redone 12 years ago) because a hard-to-find leak in the tub prompted us to consider replacing it....which then brought about the issue of replacing the tiled tub-surround that would be damaged...and we would also have to try to retile some spots on the floor because a new tub would be a smaller footprint leaving some bare spots once old tub was pulled out. My point is that we also had to figure out the whole, "do we do an updated 'patch job' to save a lot of money, or do we just gut it and accept the cost as the price of being at peace with it/enjoying a new look and improved function. Right or wrong...which is always a very subjective thing....we gutted it and I'm thrilled. I was not interested in painting my cabinets just to have them have peel-issues due to steam, and we also got rid of the tub altogether and opted for a stand-up/walk-in shower for my older kids. Resale was considered on this issue...but by the time we move, someone can either love it as we've made it, or we will price the house with an "allowance" in mind. The old space had hot-chocolate colored walls and 'slate' porcelain floor and tub surround...an overall warm and cozy feel but also tired and dated. The new space is a porcelain 'marble' hex with white subway walk-in shower that is awaiting glass doors...an overall calming feeling that is also bright and fresh. I now actually wish SO BADLY that I was able to redo/retile MY whole bathroom (tile similar to yours). And there's nothing wrong with my bathroom, and a planned paint job on the walls will help me like it even more...... In my kids' bathroom, however, even unfinished with the floor and shower tile installed just waiting for the rest to come together (waiting on backordered tile base moulding) ......... Comments (6)I think I have that same 10” hex from Spain, except mine is the charcoal color (looks black). Just wanted to say I love it, and i think the grey version looks good with your vanity. Also, if you’re pricing marble tile it’s worth taking a look at www.thebuilderdepot.com. Our master bath has a ton of Carrara Venato marble tile- 4x12 on the floor, herringbone mosaic on the shower floor and 6x12 on shower walls, and we sourced all of our tile from them. The prices are amazing compared to the tile store where we bought the rest of our tile, and the marble quality is great....See More

4 years agoI wanted to post an update. Of course, it's not without any problems. My current issue is that the vanity has predrilled holes that call for a mini spread faucet and the Moen brushed gold does not come in this size. I've bought a few different faucets and none of them fit but I already have the shower installed so I'm going to try to match as close as I could (also have not had any luck) but I think I may have found something similar. Anyway, here are the pix (the color is a tad off due to my phone)

4 years agoI am not sure what faucet you actually want but since your shower trim looks like Moen Voss so perhaps that is the one. You might want to look at the single handle version of that faucet (or which ever one it is). The single hole faucet comes with an escutcheon/deck plate that will cover the the other 2 holes already drilled in your counter.
I used a single hole faucet with an escutcheon plate in one of my bathrooms to cover the extra holes and it. I think it looks fine.
I find single handle faucets easier to use than 2 handle faucets.
