Paint Home Decorating Design Dilemma

help with whole house color palette

I am moving into a new home which is painted all creamy white. I am looking for some advice on whether or not my planned color palette works. some of these colors are in my current home and work well together but others are new. it's very open so you can see the main living space, dining, and kitchen at once from the living room.

my plan-
main open living space - Farrow and ball blue gray
connected dining space - Farrow and ball card room green
kitchen - Benjamin Moore gray cashmere
master bedroom - Benjamin Moore Irish mist
powder room and other bedrooms - undecided, would love thoughts

the house has wood floors, trim, and doors and I really like how the gray-green plays with that. I appreciate any thoughts!

IMO the fewer colors you use the better in spaces that open to eachother I love grayed / greens for overall wall color I find it very neutral .

Patricia, that was my thought in using the shades of a gray green, the darkest being card room green, gray green in the middle and gray cashmere lightest in the kitchen because I need more light there.

it is a very big ranch so I'm not concerned with making it looking larger but I don't want it to feel piece-y. do you think the 3 are too much? it's probably 1500 sq ft of space or so.

I suggest you hire an interior designer or color consultant. They are not that expensive and will help you accomplish a color scheme that you'll enjoy.

eld has a good question - where are you located, what type of setting are you in, what's the style of your house, do you like calm colours or vibrant ones, what type of artwork do you have/will you keep. what colours are in your furniture now, what type of flooring will you be using (hardwood vs carpeting/area rugs) We did this same thing a few years ago but I hired someone to help me through the whole process of the renovation so that I didn't screw up the colour coordination of tiles and cabinet colours and wall colours and flooring etc. I have a post and beam house on the west coast situated on the edge of a forest that goes on forever. Those characteristics, and our furniture, drove the entire renovation project including wall colours. And although it is no longer in style. I even have a feature wall of colour in the dining room which was driven by a piece of art.

Swatching colors side by side on the old color doesn't really help. You need need white poster board painted the colors you are looking at with a white edge around it. Then you move them around the room during different times of the day to see the color in the space. OR you can order from Samplize to try colors. I would try the Prussian Blue in your rooms as suggested. I think it is going to way to bright.

Well my favorite color for a neurtal is a grayed/ green like Gray Wisp from BM it works well with wood and brick but honestly we need to see your stuff. Wall color is really the last choice to make . Bedroom colors are IMO driven by the bedding and can be quite different that the rest of the house. I like adjoining bedroom/ bathroom to have the same color palette . So a bit more info as to your stuff would be helpful

I would use Teresas green in all the psaces in the main living space then add something different in bedrooms where the color should go with the bedding. But I would also need to see your furniture , your lighting will need to be good LEDs in 4000K range to keep colors true. Wall colr is not decided by just liking a color it needs to work with all the elements in a space since all your rooms are in sight of eachother I would keep it simple if after you live in it for a while you decide to change the DR then do that. I like the Blue gray too BTW but it is up to you to see how color works with your stuf. BTW I would always choose F%B if I could but your painter will need to know how to apply it so make sure they have tha knowledge.

Patricia, will do. thank you for the tips! any advice on a blue color for my son's room that will play nicely with the gray green and the rest of the house? the children's bedrooms will be redone so I can find bedding to go with whatever color looks good with the overall color palette.
