I had one of those for many years and it worked fine. I think mine was actually just a fabric liner vs. an actual curtain. I was looking for something simple vs. a flamboyant pattern so this fit the bill for me. The fabric would get wet but it kept water from spraying outside of the shower area. It dried quickly but we left the curtain spread across the shower rod - we didn't bunch it up wet. I washed it in the washing machine from time to time.

I don't know what others call them, I just call them shower curtains. Fabric, water resistant, not waterproof. But as long as you don't aim the water at it for minutes, it will hold. I love this curtain, a white on white stripe, very simple and clean looking. Toss it in the washer, hang it back up to dry.

Bpath, I love the idea of the world map curtain facing into the shower. I’m going to pass that idea along to DD for when the twins are older.

Bbstx, I picked up several at Target 15 years ago and just keep swapping them out as they got too grungy. Neither kid did particularly well in geography, though, they must have had soap in their eyes lol.

So, maybe I can just ditch the vinyl liner and use the current curtain? It’s a cotton-poly blend and I do like the pattern on it, simple white-on-white squares.

I love the curved rods I have seen in some hotels. It looks nice plus it makes the bathtub seem bigger.

I love the curved rods, too. Not really thinking of replacing the screwed-in rod at this time, though I’m sure my 6-foot DS would appreciate it.

I've liked cloth shower curtain liners with a simple hotel-style cloth shower curtain on the outside. The liner and curtain share the shower curtain rings so it's not a hassle to open/close. And you just pull off the liner to wash. Easy.

My favorites have been from Restoration Hardware (both liner and curtain with simple stitching around). I liked the RH liner better than one I bought from Bed Bath & Beyond. I haven't bought one in years and it seems like RH has doubled their prices since the last time I shopped there. Yikes.

I like the Hookless ones at Bed bath & Beyond that have the snap off liner I have the Escape one at the beach condo. The mesh at the top allows more light into the shower.

Straitlover, I was just thinking of those. I’ve seen them in hotels and I like the concept. Using the rings is such a bother! And hooks are kind of a pain, too, when you have to remove the outer curtain to wash just the liner.

My favorite is a fabric liner with grommets and a textured shower curtain with these hooks, they are so good as I can just lift off the shower liner for washing as well as the other side when it gets soiled which is almost never.hooks

We recently helped my son paint his guest bathroom and then we replaced the shower curtain. He got a fabric liner that could also be used as a curtain, but he also wanted an outer curtain. Interestingly, the background of the outer curtain is very similar with a texture woven into the white fabric so the two look much the same other than the embroidered border on the outer one. Bought them both at HomeGoods.

We got curtain rings similar to the ones Toby posted and found them on Amazon -- putting the curtain up was easy and fast -- taking it down to wash will be much easier than what he had up there. As a plus, the ones we got are slightly lower on the back side so that the liner hangs slightly below and isn't seen from the outside (looks like Toby's are the same way). Thought that was a nice touch.
