no room for shower door...need feedback on curtain/liner
Comments (10)Our tub-shower combo in our very small front bathroom had a sliding glass door, which we hated. So we removed it during the remodel of the room. I tried various shower curtains - trying to get the best look - and settled on a clear liner and nothing more. It doen't interfere with the nice elements of the "new" bathroom and it doesn't use much visual space. To clean a clear liner, just put it in the washing machine on warm/warm, with a couple of tablespoons of baking soda. It will be sparkling fresh and you simply rehang it to dry. Shower liners are not "lovely", but they are clean and unobtrusive....See MoreNeed advice re shower curtain rod -- type, placement, source, et
Comments (11)Bear in mind that online reviews usually number a handful, so it's hard to determine quality based on reviews. Faucetdirect.com has lots of rods. Brass rods are the most expensive. I bought stainless steel. The Kohler rods would have been my first choice, but my shower is 58", and theirs and many others start at 60". I had to buy Moen and it does look nice. We have good ventilation so I don't think rust will be a problem. Location: Once you have the rod and shower curtain, you'll figure it out pretty quickly. Most shower curtains are 70-72" long. Leaking: Curved rods won't prevent it. I bought a shower curtain liner at BB&B that has suction cups along the sides. Shower curtains: JC Penney, Macy's, Kohl's, BB&B, Pottery Barn, Croscill.com, Overstock.com, etc. I've looked at hundreds and haven't found what I'm looking for. Most look pretty chintzy imo....See MoreWhat can we expect to feel with new shower fixtures?
Comments (4)In my new bathroom I have the exact same setup you will have. I didn't use the handheld previously to the remodel, but I'm not sure it will change much from your old to the new. As for your other questions -- The 5-inch overhead does feel less powerful. It still sprays well, and it IS in a larger diameter circle, but the spray is weaker - somewhere between what I imagine a rain shower and a normal showerhead would be...maybe more towards the "normal" side of things. I see absolutely no change in their original pressure when I turn them both on together. What does happen, though, is that for some reason my handheld (which is set to the "1" position, if that matters?) will get more of the hot water when both are on, and so there is a slight difference in temp between the two sources. It's not like a freezing/burning difference - it's still quite comfortable, just kind of strange. Oh, and a note - we have excellent water pressure at my house. This might affect how the two sources function when running together....See MoreNew shower curtain, what color to match rug & towels?
Comments (8)If you indeed like color and pattern, go for it! Everything goes with black and white. Please don't be boring and get white towels and rug. How about a stripe for the towels? Or a contrast band on a solid color? Maybe an ombre effect rug. I do use light colors mostly in my own bath, light blue and sandy color, not for ease of washing, but because they go with my shower and floor. You can get any color perfectly clean without bleach by using an oxygen cleaner or vinegar in the wash. Less harsh on the fibers....See MoreEileen
