We have a 240 wall version Advantium, & it can do all the grilled cheese, pizza, etc. stuff, much better than a toaster oven. There is no preheat with Advantium speedcooking. You will need a real toaster for toast; we bought a Braun.

I have a Breville Smart Oven which we bought when our only oven decided to die in early April and we decided not to spend $300 having it fixed so we could tear it out in late June (we hope). The Smart Oven has worked remarkably well as a replacement for day to day stuff, although obviously there are some things that won't fit. I just checked my 13x9 pyrex pan. It won't fit in the Breville, but it's actually nearly 15" long because of its handles. I tried a ceramic baking pan that, at it's biggest, is a tiny bit more than 12x8 (ie, maybe 12 1/8 by 8 1/8 or so). That fits. I measured the inside and you could get just the right 13x9 pan in there. Maybe a metal one with no handles. The 9" dimension isn't an issue at all. OK. That was a long winded way of saying a 13x9 pan might fit, depending on the exact size of the outside of the pan. Oh, yeah and it toasts nicely.

But I did find out that my local BB&B has the Breville in stock (not the Cuisinart but it could be shipped free) and I can use a 20% off coupon so that helps the bottom line. Anne2326, thanks for your feedback about your Cuisinart, especially good to hear that you find it easy to clean. I remember how difficult it was to clean my first and only toaster oven purchased donkey's years ago, back when these machines were very basic. elphaba, I hadn't heard the caution about not using Pyrex dishes in the Breville so thanks for the heads up. I did a little digging and apparently, that comes from Pyrex's website: "DO NOT use on or under a flame or other direct heat source, including on a stovetop, under a broiler, on a grill or in a toaster oven." So it's not just Breville, it's all toaster ovens. And it's not just Pyrex, the same caution is found at Anchor Hocking's website: "HEAT IN OVEN ONLY. Use your Anchor Hocking Bakeware in gas or electric ovens up to 425ðF or microwave ovens without browning element. Not for stovetop, broiler or toaster oven use. Do not use an alcohol or Canned Heat burner as a direct heat source" Anchor Hocking Care and Use I wonder if ancient Pyrex would be okay since it's the old formula. I have quite a bit of that. In fact, I don't think I own any dishes of the new formula. Please keep me posted about your toaster oven placement, elphaba. So far, you're the only person I know who's considering doing something like I want to do. I hadn't bothered to look at the Oster, rtwilliams, so thanks for your post. Unfortunately, they are larger than even the largest Breville so that may rule it out for me. I'll have to do a bit more research, though. Thanks, everyone! If the Breville "toaster oven" is like the Wolf Countertop Oven with Convection, I would definitely not put it inside a cabinet, unless that cabinet was designed to withstand the heat. I purposely did not get the Wolf countertop oven for one of my "free" choices after buying SZ/W appliance for our kitchen. These are truly countertop ovens vs toaster. That said, in our pantry wall, I have a pull-out shelf for the coffeemaker, blender and two slice toaster. We do not use the toaster often. The pull-out stays out while toasting and until the toaster is no longer giving off any heat. As above poster commented, it's just adults in our household, and I would not do this with children or teenagers in the house. allison, we’re discussing a Brevllle Toaster Oven, not a single built in oven.
