It's a Portulacaria afra, but I'll let others address care beyond it's a succulent & likes strong sun after being introduced to it gradually & good drainage. That mix you're showing looks like a good start.

Don't overwater, and give it some time to recuperate. I grow mine in full sun, but as Karen said, do it gradually or it will burn.

Did you take all original soil off the roots? Did they look good?

Rina, it's been at least a month since I repotted. It should be good to put outside now. The roots did look good. Some were very small though.

It can go outside anytime, point is to introduce full and direct sunlight gradually. Direct, outdoor light is much more intense than indoors. I would put it in dappled shade and move into more and more sunlight every few days. Mine are in sun from sunrise till sundown, but if you do ir suddenly, it will burn - just like ppl get sunburn :)

I see lots of fallen leaves - it seems to me there are too many. After a month, it should look better. How often/how much do you water? Some leaves look drying up. Are they all dry-papery when they fall off or soft? Size of roots wouldn't cause falling off the leaves if they are healthy. OTOH, even healhy leaves could fall off easily if you brush past them. Overall, there should be more leaves. (Stems - trunks should start getting woody as plant ages.) Here is photo of one of my plants (grown from cutting) - it is in full sun (it is approx. 3:15pm now):

I water it when the soil is dry. I'm not sure how often it is. It varies for all of my plants.

Portulacarias are pretty thirsty when growing. I water smaller plants every other day now.

Do not put it in strong sunlight right away, it should be acclimatized, or plant will sunburn. And as raxidor said, perhaps water more - as I said, leaves look dried up. But that doesn't mean overwatering either...depends on how well and how fast your potting mix dries up.

You hadn't quite answered if you had taken off ALL the old soil pls?

Karen, that question was never asked... Yes, I did take off all the old soil. I know how to correctly repot, thanks to Rina and the others on here who have helped me.

Here's an update. The plant already has new growth and looks so much better.
