Surprise in the mail! More plants....!
Comments (8)Wow love how everything's nicely potted, they look so nice all together. That haworthia zebra one looks really cool too! I've only recently seen one or two white succulents but they weren't cotelydons...more tree/branch like. Yeah the lady who sold the haworthia viscosa to me said haworthias don't like as much sun but that I can tell if they have too much if they brown on the edges. Not that there's any danger of that happening in my apt..or with the season cooling down now.. I have a moon cactus too! with pups...I would love to try grafting but don't know where to get root stock. Probably just any columnar cacti...etc. awesome collection!...See MoreCustom Home Build contract cancellation too costly
Comments (19)Good luck to you. At this point you should still take your contract to an atty for review. If you're going to continue with your build you need to understand what the scope of your contract includes, including timeline issues. If you're going to bail on this build, you also should find out what your legal obligation is re this contract. Understand that obtaining financing, even if you have enough liquid assets to build the whole house without financing, is a tough business right now. You should be prepared to look at more than one bank/credit union/ investment brokerage. In the end we ended up financing our new build through an arm of our investment brokerage. After all the hoops etc it just made more sense for us. And, our land, which we owned free and clear, did not count as part of our down payment, and the appraisal for new construction didn't come up to the cost of our build. So in the end we'll have 40% into our build. We could have compromised on a lot of things we wanted, or we could have bought existing, and gotten an 80% mortgage. Point is you need to be persistent in getting financing, and you need to have an attorney review your contract....See MoreWWYD - Receiving phone calls for someone who's deceased
Comments (60)So sorry to hear about your father, but nice that you got a final phone call. I can see how that would be comforting. When I lived in Culver City (1989-1994) I had a land line with a phone number that had previously belonged to Larry Welk III, a helicopter pilot for channel 9 news. At this time I mostly used the name Larry instead of Lars because Larry is what my family called me, and that is the name that I identified myself by on my answering machine, which had cassette tapes back then. At one point I started to get a lot of phone calls from companies that wanted to sell me insurance for my helicopter, and this would take up a lot of space on the cassette tapes, which I could not fast forward through at that time. Therefore I changed my outgoing message to say, "Hello, you have reached 310 377-8855, the house of NO LAWRENCE WELK music. If you think you have reached this number in error, take two Geritol and dial again in the morning." The calls from the insurance companies stopped after that. However, when my mother heard this message, it made her mad, and she made me change it because she was a Lawrence Welk fan....See MoreMail order plants
Comments (32)I don't know what has happened but I am getting no alerts of posts from the Florida Gardening Forum group. Are you on Facebook under a group that I can access there? I wanted to share with all of you that after 2 agonizing months of calling and emailing Burgess Plant and Seed Co. my credit card company is getting me a full refund of the very first order of over $143 I placed with them. What a relief. I bought the garden soil and mulch, planned the garden spots and just been in limbo waiting for plants to arrive any day from them. Glad that nightmare is over and now I can move forward. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and support....See Morelocaleater
